Well, you've had a chance to read about our first baby Judah, so without further ado, let's meet Jaydah. As we mentioned about Judah being a Humane Society baby, Jaydah is a Arizona Basset Hound Rescue dog. After we had Judah for quite some time and were able to get him well of his tick fever, we decided to get him a companion for the times we weren't able to be with him. So we got to looking.
We first attempted a Dachsund named Eddie. But unfortunately, he got a little too vicious for my liking and I didn't like how he was so territorial with things. So we took Eddie back and that same night we received a call from a man a half hour's drive away that he had a miniature Cocker Spaniel that he'd adopt out for free. How can ya beat that? LOL. We drove there and picked up what we named Peanut and brought him back. Well I wasn't prepared for the "domination" issue with this dog as well as Peanut being so nervous and hyper. I couldn't deal with that, so back he went. We began to get frustrated at that point. So we tried the AZBHR and got to meet as we called her, Kimmie. Kimmie was a red/white Basset/Beagle mix. She was a beautiful dog, but alas, she was too hard to train. So back she went as well. Well after that, we had a mutual friend call us up and tell us that he had someone giving away a full blood Bloodhound. To sum it up short, that dog at 9 months weighed in excess of 100 lbs. I said, no. We thought about just letting it rest for a while, but I couldn't when AZBHR called yet once again and said they had a 3 year old tri-color female named Phoebe. We said we'd foster her for a few weeks, and then decide whether or not to adopt her.
I traveled quite some miles to pick her up. They told me she was a "low-rider" and was slightly overweight. They didn't lie LOL. Her front legs were at most are 3 inches in height. She was a plump 70 lbs and just a gorgeous animal. As you can see, she loved bones and could eat one of them in no time at all. She would sit there content for hours on end just gnaw away at them. Talk about a singer. LOL. That dog could sing with the best of 'em. Tilt your head back and let it go and it wasn't long till she'd be singing with ya. Her and Judah both loved to romp with one another. She'd yip and nip at him and before long they'd tear it up and be running like their hind ends were on fire or something. She was a real blessing to us and we had to put her to sleep back in July of 2004 due to heat stroke. Her final resting place was beneath two fruit trees in the backyard of our house in AZ. We want to let her know, that Jaydah... we love you sweetie and all of us, Daddy, Mommy, Savannah and Judah miss you terribly!!! |
