| Wind screen: National Cycle Defelctor Screen This is a nice small screen, to keep some of the bugs off, and provide some relief from wind. Installed 5-31-02 just prior to my Boise trip. Tank Bag: Ortlieb Waterproof Tankbag, Magnetic Base & Map Case from RiderWarehouse. I've added a small camera bag to the left side and a small fanny pack to the top (handlebar end) to increase usefulness. Hydration: Platypus Liquidator Hydration Pack: I mount this to the left side pannier rail, with bungees across the tail trunk. The hose runs up my left side and clips to the tank bag. For the IBR, I am changing to a 1/2 Gallon RubberMaid jug. I've not quite figured out the mounting yet. Seat: I recently rebuilt the seat, using 'memory' foam over firm foam, and covered with a Red Hawiian Flower Print cover. Pictures soon... Tires: Dunlop K491's. I started using these in late September '02, and like them pretty well. They wear like iron (I have over 12K miles on them now!) and handle 'OK'. A new set will go on in July for the IBR ride. GPS: I am using a friends Garmin Streetpilot (B&W). I've been using it in a RAM mount, but the inserts were pulling out of the Garmin case. I sent it into Garmin for repair, and had the screen changed as well. I am going to fabricate a new mount for it. Brakes: Front master cylinder rebuilt and fluid changed in May '02. Front pads were replaced, as they had glazed from a earlier master cylinder problem. Engine: With just over 10K miles to date (early June '02) the engine should only need normal maintienence, which I'll do myself. I now have 29K miles on the bike. Over the winter, I had to change the front cover gasket, and installed a new fan. Other than that, I've done normal mainetence only. Recent Additions (June 21): Added Vista Cruise throttle lock. I added a Throttle Rocker prior to my Boise trip, but it does not work very well on my angled bars, and actually made my hand cramp more at times. In my quest for comfort, I've changed the bars to CX-500 bars, and just changed teh throttle lock to a NEP. Luggage: I had alluminum saddle bags fabricated by Legend Manufacturing in Camas, Wa. Aux Fuel: Legend Manufacturing also built my 2 gallon aux. fuel tank. Lighting: I've added (1) PIAA 910 aux light, and a switch to control it. I've added 4 LED marker lights, two amber where there used to be reflectors on the radiator housing, and two red ones on the aux fuel mounting bracket. All four are wired in to the AUX circuit, allowing me to have them on with no other lighting, as well as being on when the bike is running. Paint: I invited a bunch of my WetLeather(tm) buddies to help with the new paint job. The idea was to get lots of smiles, and it works! |
