What's Happening? Homework for Mr. Curry's
students
09/28/09 J We counted the
different colored apples for Johnny Appleseeds birthday, in preparation
for making a graph today. We learned about tally marks as we counted. The
children had fun. The apple graphs will soon be displayed on the bulletin
board in the back of the room. Today we will be slicing and coring the
apples. We will look at what we find inside, then eat the slices! Thank
you for helping! J
Letters & Words: Wow! We continue to learn the names of the letters
and the sounds they make. The letters we have learned are M, S, R, T, and
P. This week we are learning A and
C. Please feel free to
send foods that start with A or C letters during the week. Please practice
with your child every day until skills are mastered. Our new word this
week is am. J
Our P is for Pepperoni Pizza
party was also a great success! Almost all the students brought their
$1.50 for this event. Thank you to Matthews parents for picking up the pizzas for us as well as providing punch to drink! Appreciation goes to all who
offered to pick up the pizza and to all the parents and grandparents who sent other snacks
starting with the letter P! It
is so appreciated by the
students! I know that the children enjoy the recognition they receive from
their peers.
J
Thanks to all the parents who sent the ingredients for peanut butter and
jelly sandwiches! Thanks also go to Miss Gabby and Mathews grandma for
constructing the sanwhiches! J
We will be planting pumpkin
seeds this week. We have talked about how plants grow what plants need to
grow. If you can send a package of pumpkin seeds, it would be
appreciated. J
&
Please
dont forget to write down the title of Thursdays paper book that is
sent home weekly when you write the titles of books read on the homework
sheet. J&
Most of the books from the
book orders arrived and have been passed out. One order is still on the way. I
will send another book order home soon. Again. J
Some
of the photos taken so far are posted on the website:

Time is flying- October is just about here, which means parents might
be starting to think about
costumes. The kindergarten children are allowed to dress up on
Halloween. The children can wear
costumes that show good character. Superheroes, heroes, princesses,
occupations, and other costumes that will provide our students a fun
dress-up day without evil overtones will be allowed. No vampires,
witches, devils, skulls, blood, weapons, horror characters, or villains
are allowed. If you have any questions, please ask. I
appreciate all you do for your child! If you have any questions or
concerns, PLEASE talk to me! Mr. Curry http://www-personal.umich.edu/~pfa/dreamhouse/nursery/rhymes |
