Explain to your audience the intent and purpose behind this website. What steps did you take in creating the website that ensured you met your objectives?
This site is designed to be a place where fans of the New England Patriots can go to find out more about the team and obtain gear and memorabilia to build the perfect Patriot cave in any house no matter the location on Earth. When creating this site, I took into consideration the idea of what sites to create and then chose an interest. After that, the foundation was created and the content just came together shortly after.
Why did you make the specific design choices that you did? For each of your website’s pages, explain your rationale for the overall design, as well as the individual components (colors, typography, etc.). Support your choices with evidence of your consideration of the end user. What did you do to make your website engaging, professional, and easy to use?
Once the site idea was considered, the design choices became clear. You truly have to go with a Patriots' theme after that! For a team site, it is best to stay consistent with your colors as well. You want the site to maintain a theme and allow for the flow of content. For online stores, you don't want the background to distract from the items you are selling. You will get less business that way. In that same respect, Arial is a pretty "eye appealing" font when it comes to merchant sites. I could have used the Patriot font throughout but that tends to hurt the eyes when seen over a long period of time.
Finally, explain what else you might like to do with this website in the future. What could you have done differently if you had more time or resources? What sorts of content, capabilities, pages, etc. might you want to include in future updates?
If given more time and resources to do so, I would like to have a Flash element for interactivity. It wouldn't be for the store and memorabilia, of course, for the reasons listed above. The Flash element could be for viewing the stadium and Patriot Place from an interactive string of photos. It would be very similar to a Google Street view but for these two areas. My imagination, page wise, maybe a fan photo page or a meet your Patriots page where I could sit down with the team and have a profile page for each one (past and present). Security wise, I would make this site away from Geocities and secure it using HTTPS. Customer information would reside on a secure server using encryption as well.
