The materials presented are used by all the children enrolled in the choral clsses where prof. Yakkey teaches for over 25 years.
The children often sing in competitions and opera performances throughout Europe and have recently recorded "La Boheme" and "Tosca" with Zubin Mehta conducting and tenor Andrea Bocelli. When Joan first started teaching in Italy in the 1970's, there were no materials accessible or compatible with her ideas for teaching young children, Joan's first choral students together with her young daughter first studied in the church basement of San Fillipo Neri. Materials were improvised but the children were very interested and began learning the beauty of understanding the world of music.
Joan's daughter ELENA PIERINI is now passing on the tradition of interesting children in reading and interpreting music in Florida.
