| Mom, Aunt Paula, and Me Christmas 2001. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Cancer is a very scary thing. I want to applaud the survivours and remember those who weren't so lucky. My mother is a survivor. In November of 2000 my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was lucky enough that it was not envasive. Meaning it had not envaded other cells. It is at this time contained and she is living with cancer, praying that it doesn't progress. In late November she had a scare. She had some complications and her gyno thought she might have an onset of cervical cancer. She underwent testing and while she waited on the test to come back her docter suggested she have an historectomy. After recouperating the test came back negative. We all sighed a relief and realized how precious our lives are. |

| My Aunt however was not as lucky. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 1999. Her cancer had been caught in a later stage so she under went all the Chemo and Radiation she could endure. The doctors did what they could. Her cancer was in remission but, it had already done to much damage to her body. Her weight went up and down. She got better for a while and then she started going down hill. Her yougest son, Kevin was there with her through all her ups and downs. In October of this year she became very ill. She was diagnosed with diabetes. After that her body just shut down. She passed away on November 2, 2002. If she would have made it to Christmas Eve she would have been 49. We miss and love her. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Having said this please take the time to care for your body. Make sure this doen't happen to you. If you smoke please quit. Love yourself as much as we do. This is the best you can do to make sure your life is the best it can possibly be. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| After my mom was diagnosed she became more educated about cancer. She got envolved with Relay for Life. It is an excellent way to contribute to the community. Relay for Life is a fund raiser used to educate and research cancer. I have never gotten to attend my mothers relay but I have pictures of it and heard many great stories. This event helped my family come togther for a day and show that cancer is not going to win.....we can beat this....together. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
