Granny's Sugar Cookies

This is a recipe my mom has been using for years, and I think it came out of the newspaper, but it isn't my actual "Granny's" recipe.

Mix together:

1 cup sugar
� cup butter or margarine, softened

Add:

1 egg

Mix together and stir in:

� teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

Add:

� teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 400�F. Roll cookie dough to about �-inch thick and cut out with cookie cutters. Place cookies on greased cookie sheet and bake 10-12 minutes. Remove cookies immediately and brush with glaze (see below)
