Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is the classic Nestle Toll-House chocolate chip cookie recipe. You can find it on the back of almost any chocolate chip package.

2� cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks)
� cup sugar
� cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 12 oz. pkg chocolate chips
(optional) � cup walnuts

Preheat oven to 375�. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. Mix butter/margarine, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla; add eggs. Mix in dry ingredients. Add chips (and walnuts). Drop by rounded teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes, until edges are slightly brown. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
