Vivian's Indiana to California to Indiana Fauxlog (Fake Blog)

Friday, May 11 - So...Little...Oxygen

We managed to get through Utah yesterday with anyone marrying us (they didn't have enough cash), and it didn't seem to take long because there isn't anything to stop and see:

No Bigamy Allowed

Today we a traversing the Rocky Mountains in western Colorado, and between the three straight days of travel and the lack of oxygen at 14,000 feet, it's hard to stay conscious. Joyce is so disoriented that she wore navy sneakers with a blue dress:

What shoes should she wear?

Well, the sights are beautiful here though, and we will miss them when we hit the hypnotic flatness of eastern Colorado and Kansas...

Thursday, May 10 - What Happens In Mesquite Stays In Mesquite

We stay here

After a plane and an automobile, we decided not to gamble with any more travel and instead just spent the night in Nevada here in Mesquite at the Valley Inn Motel ("Where the bed isn't the only thing with a coin slot!"). We would have stayed in Las Vegas, but after watching too much CSI, it seems dangerous. That, and if something did happen to me, I would want to know in advance that the guy who plays Grissom would be the one to examine my body.

Search Me For Trace, Please!

Our stay here is brief, as is our visit to the state of Arizona (about 45 minutes), so here is a quick picture to prove we were there:

Don't Blink

We'll be in Utah next, but I doubt we'll be stopping much so we won't accidentally end up married to a guy who already has 6 other wives. Unless it's the guy who plays Grissom; I could learn to share...

Wednesday, May 9 - Lunch at Not Quite Sisters

Not Sisters

We drove for a while while apparently missing other tempting road signs and we stopped at Mimi's cafe for lunch. The place is so ritzy that they use dollar bills as coasters for the salt and pepper shakers. Our waitress was a little scary, though...

The restaurant owner

I don't remember what I ordered, which means I probably ordered wine. We're not going through wine country here (why couldn't Joyce have picked the wine portion of California to live in?, but that shouldn't mean I can't enjoy myself.

Well, we're continuing on down the road, but by the looks if things, it seems we're not heading for much...

Drive Joyce Drive

Wednesday, May 9 - Why Aren't We In The Right Lane?

We're missing our exit

The good news is that I made it to California and I am alive and Joyce has already picked me up. I am thankful that she found me an $80 flight, but I was suspicious when I had never heard of the airline. It was called UPS. It turns out that it doesn't mean "ups", like up in the air where planes go. I'll have to have a talk with Joyce about that. My seat had no armrest, light, or flotation device, and I believe it could have been a fire hazard as it was made of cardboard. At least the flight attendants in the brown uniforms were kind enough to stamp "FRAGILE" all over my seat, but I didn't appreciate them trying to weigh me.

But the flight is over an now we're on the road and Joyce is driving us home

Drive Joyce Drive

I'm sure we'll eventually get there, but when depends on who's driving and what signs we see along the way...
