Goals for 2000

We are in the process of obtaining a 1984 Ford Box Ambulance for the purpose of going to first responder. We have had three EMT's to test out this year and one first responder will test out this month.
We are also in the process of expanding our building to accomadate three additional truck bays and are considering an on site landing pad for med-flight and wings.

January 05, 2000

While performing duties at the fire hall firefighter James Gill was assaulted, robbed and stabbed. James was lored out of the building by a person or persons under the pretense of car trouble. When James approached to offer assistance he was attacked from behind. The department is offering a reward of one thousand dollars for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the attack, robbery and attempted murder of James Gill.

November 23, 1999

Jasper Volunteer Fire Department was the first to respond to a large brush fire in the Lovelady section of Jasper, on U.S. Forestry Land on the old Ridge Road. Jasper was on the scene shortly before 9:00 p.m., and began efforts to combat the fire immediately. Jasper was assisted by the Virginia Department Of Forestry, United States Forestry Department, Duffield Volunteer Fire Department, The California Hot Spots (firejumpers), as well as firefighters from Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.

All units remained on the scene throuhout the night. Breakfast was served at the firehall at 7:00 a.m. with over 50 firefighters fed. We wish to thank everyone who came to our aid. This fire consumed over 90 acres of land.
