- As usual, the topic of roster cuts has come up for after Gold Rush. With UWF's attempt to relaunch the cruiserweight division, they are looking to bring in new cruiserweight talent, which means of course, having to make room for them.
- A current champion in UWF has reportedly handed in his notice to UWF officials, baffling most in the head office. No word on if they are attempting to talk this person (Our sources weren't clear if it was a he or a she) out of quitting the fed or if they are willing to let this person go
- UWF officials have been in contact with numerous RCW competitors after RCW's announcement of closing down. We know that Danny Chayne was approached about coming into the promotion, but he declined after signing to compete elsewhere. There are apparently two high profile names that have already signed to arrive in UWF, and there are numerous ongoing discussions as it stands right now. The next few weeks will be very interesting, especially should any bidding wars start up for talents like Juan Vasquez, Mark Langseth and Madisson J. Valentine.
- UWF home video will be releasing several DVD's in the next few weeks. Included are an Amity DVD featuring a lot of MBC content featuring One Winged Angel, UWF:Invassion which looks at the various personas and groups that have claimed to invade UWF over the years, "The Rise and Fall of Scorpio", and a special three disk DVD set showcasing Gold Rush's greatest matches, to tie in with the upcoming Pay Per View.
- Brett Greene had approached UWF officials about doing a benefit show for Hurricane Katrina victims in his homestate of Louisianna. Unfortunately, nothing official could be organized through head office so apparently Greene went ahead and made arrangements out of his own pocket for a releif show. Although it didn't have the official UWF brand name associated with it, numerous UWF competitors volunteered their services for autograph sessions with all procedes going directly to charities for those affected.
- Jamie Underwood has been getting unwanted heat backstage as several competitors claim his ego has gotten the best of him ever since he was cast out of The Illuminati. Underwood almost came to blows backstage with one veteran, who reportedly stiffed him several times during a house show match. Officials have hoped that his time off would help remedy the situation.
- NBC has approached UWF head office about the possibility of John DeWolfe appearing on the sitcom The Office. One would have to assume he'd play the role of a sleazy management type... cause, well, that is what he is.
- There is a current ad campaign being designed to focus attention on the women's division. Many insiders feel UWF has the best roster of female talent and several officials feel it is time to highlight that fact. Look for the women to play a more significant role in shows after Gold Rush. The ad campaign is looking to take on various forms of media. The UWF has already arranged billboards and adspace on the side of TTC buses & subways in Toronto, as well as space in magazines and newspaper (Brianna Landis was yesterday's Sunshine girl in The Toronto Sun). Depending on the success of the promotion, UWF is even considering buying ad time during The Superbowl.
- Officials have been pleased with the response Alex Martinez has been getting in pro-UWF territory. When first brought in, some were skeptical of his popularity and chances for success in UWF, given his ties to numerous other promotions and the roles he plays within them.
- It was actually Alex Kidd's idea for Luke Kinsey and The Illuminati to shave off his hair. He has been pressured by his wife Alicia Powers for years to change his look, and finally gave in.
- Unfortunately, we don't have any interesting news to report on Jason Keening, an internet favourite in terms of gossip. We'll keep searching for something to print, however as an editor's note, half the stuff we find on the guy you *REALLY* don't want to know...
