Chock Full here reporting on some more news from the wide world of wrestling...
- The CF Spies forsee the PPV to run off smoothly and have a good buyrate due to the good hype job the company's done in the past couple weeks. Especially important for the PPV - the drawing points and matches that'll ultimately make the show a hit or miss - are the two main matches: Winston IV vs. Augustine and Brown vs. Daniels. Both have been built up well now, so one has to think the matches will come off as equal as their feuds have.
Other key matches would the World Tag Team three way match and the UWF Cruiser title match between Bonn & O'Brien. On an interesting note, it'll be something to see if UWF can do the extreme Barbed Wire Match between Serge Annis vs. Cameron Black anything like the defunct EMWC's matches. Word is that they've got confidence in the workers to make the fans forget the EMWC matches with what they'll see between Annis & Black.
- Keeping on UWF and Eve of Destruction, expect only handful of brand new faces on the show... but DO expect some wrestlers of the past to come back triumphantly at the PPV. Reportedly seen backstage at the last UWF Rampage were former UWF starlet Erin McCoys, the enigmatic Requiem, and the legendary Gabriel Whitecross! Now, no word if they were just visiting friends or not, but word is strong on Whitecross showing up on air. Also of note, my spies have told me that Greg "Iceman" Smith inked a contract and should be on the first Rampage after EoD.
- Are some federations out there plotting to end the life of RCW? Well, not really, but many are fuming about the restart-up fed taking away ket talent from their rosters. Many of the original RCW'ers went on to become the big names of 2003 after the fed closed in '02 and now with RCW greeting them back... Well, it's ruining some feud/angle plans for many federations. But fault those feds for not working on their contracts and/or not fostering an atmosphere that made those stars feel that their "home" had changed.
- In other RCW news, they finally gotten Larry Van Keel resigned after a bit of a hold out. The voice of River City had been doing sports radio when contacted by RCW about returning to the fed. He was hesitant at first as he had broken through to the "legitimate press", but LVK finally agreed after speaking personally with Clint Fletcher.
- It's been reported by a Chock Spy that wrestling legend Dan Kauffman is hinting at returning back to the ring sometime by Spring of 2004. He's looking at either RCW or UWF as places to return to since he has a history with both federations.
- Former wrestling star Simon Bach has sued a Deleware Car Retailer for using his image in one of their commercials without his consent. No word on why they would use Bach or why a Deleware car dealer would even think of such a thing.
- Casey James... Tiger Claw... Returning?!? That's what LWC would like and they've been hard at work tracking down the duo to reform on the first Stampede. James knows full well what would be in store for him in the LWC and seems to be leaning towards signing, but Tiger Claw seems content in his retirement. Even if LWC were to only get Casey James back, it would be a huge coup for the fed.
- LWC also contacted GIW's City Jack about returning to the fed, but was spurned quickly on the offer. It seems that Jack never cared for Ryan Powell's leadership. In a Grand Isle radio interview, JAck said that he quickly hung up after being contacted by an LWC rep, telling him that his home now is GIW. Also, Jack said that when he was there, he got the feeling that Powell booked his wrestlers in insane spots, not caring about their health. "Yeah, he done told me about this one spot where I'd be falling somethin' like off the top of this platform way above the ring... I didn't care for that and some of the other stuff they'd do, I thought just used & abused them other wrestlers," Jack stated on Monday. LWC dismissed the accusations and merely stated that they didn't need the "overhyped, undertalented" wrestler anymore anyway.
- BSCW has inked a deal with Pro Wrestling R-Type to help develop talent for the Northeastern fed. R-Type has a similiar deal with GIW with the signing of Jeff Kujawa to the Louisianna fed.
- Wrestlebowl again this year will an all WLW event, but expect it to have a high buyrate due to the event's past name experience. Word is that someone shocking is to appear on the show... wonder who?
- In a retraction from the last edition of Chock Full's Rumour Mill, Rembrandt didn't leave US pro-wrestling after GIW - he in fact had a successful career in both NEO & BSCW before leaving the US scene. Apologies to those that would be hurt by that.
...And that's it for this edition of the Rumour Mill! This is Chock Full reporting!
