Chock Full: Late Nite
By Chock Full

Chock Full, here once again, for a "Late Nite Rumors"! We've got closing, openings, maneuverings, and Super Bowl sorrow. Let's... take it away!

- The Super Bowl was a great game, but unfortunately the Eagles lost [don't care if you like the Pats or hate the Eagles - it was unfortunate!]. But they'll be back next year and win it in... Ugh, Detroit. What happened to New Orleans? Southern Cal? Miami? I'd even take St. Louis over Jacksonville & Detroit. Blah.

- This past week saw the passing of one great new indy fed and the rising of an old one. On Wednesday, the Southern California federation Pro Wrestling Revolution abruptly closed up shop days before staging it's "Tradition" show and two months from its one year anniversary. Sources have said that, as we reported in our last edition, a conflict over the direction of the fed and amount of investment of time & money were an issue over Michaelson and others who owned and ran the operation. Burned out over the "business" of it all, Michaelson left and the fed promptly folded up as it was his vision that kept it going.

Where some of the talent will go is somewhat still out. Most of the talent will linger in other indepedent, fly-by-night organizations and most likely will never be heard from again. The bigger name and the prospects who showed promise will certainly get a call from the other federations out there for a tryout or a developmental contract. We were able to talk with City Jack, who was scheduled to lose the main event and be barred from PWR for three months. Fact is that Jack needed three - possibly even more - to have surgery on his knee and recover. The match he had with Kendrick Lane caused an injury in his leg/knee, but the big man worked some more matches elsewhere before finally going to the doctor. Others on the PWR - Calisto Dufresne, Matthew Yates, Travis Cade, and Pure X will definitely be signed by someone soon. Jaiden Andrews and Crusher Tyler are 50-50 as they both have major upsides, but major flaws. Others will have to really work on their talent and mic work to go further than wrestler-to-be.

- The old fed that's come back is none other than Grand Isle Wrestling. The little fed that's been on/off the past couple years looks to be back in a repackaged, shorter-show format form. This new format should solve some of the financial issues that were always a problem and general came from the high production values held by the federation. The talent level looks good as always, with a mix of recognized indy-stars and some new talents. As noted in the previous item, GIW institution, City Jack, is one of the men NOT coming back. However, former impressive PWR'er and original GIW'er, Kendrick Lane will be back with the fed along with other former GIW'er Tommy Ganz. Other than Lane & Ganz, former NEO-Pro stars, Trent Davidson and Psicopa are signed to the roster and indy-star The Scrayper has agreed to appear. All other wrestlers signed are either rookies or indy vets that never got any attention. The first GIW show, titled "Bourbon Street Blues", is scheduled for February 17th at the Sand Dollar Marina.

Word was that GIW's operators wanted to have the first show on Fat Tuesday, but failed in signing enough talent and crewmen in time to put on the show. The date push back shouldn't affect anything and actually may help as the federation will have more time to get the word out.
