* Gold Rush is right around the corner, and company executives are
looking at the show as one of the biggest with several major fueds and
storylines looking to wrap up, all the while with more looking to start
up. Executives are also eager to hold the event, since it's been a
March PPV every year until this one. Early June seems to be the date it's
scheduled for.
* Things may or may not be winding down for UWF mainstay, Youth Gone
Wild. UWF writers are eager to find something for YGW to do, however in the
last few years, Wild has found himself with horrible luck on the injury
front. Just when it seems they get the ball rolling for the former two time
World champ, another injury snatches the chance up. Although YGW is one of
the ones with a "job for life" with the company, many are wondering if YGW
might decide to step away once and for all.
* Rumors of an inter-promotional show with NEO-Pro continue to swirl,
however there's no official confirmation of such an event taking place
in the near future. However with some talent swapping, it does seem to
remain a decent bet we'll see something in the future.
* One of UWF's oldest managers, Alicia Powers has recently begun
stepping into the ring as a competitor. She competed on the a recent house show
tour under a mask known as Power Girl, and recently competed against Tara
Marshall, and pinned Tom Landis in a mixed tag team match. Officials
seem impressed with Powers' progress since entering training six months ago.
* UWF may face a lawsuit against them by former I-Slash'er Blackout.
UWF recently tried out new theme music for the Pride faction, and used
"Power Struggle" by Sunna, which also happens to be Blackout's entrance music,
with whom has an exclusive rights contract to the song. However, once
contacted, UWF officials quickly offered to stop using the theme, and
offered Blackout their apologies. No word yet on if Blackout will
consider legal action.
* Stable wars have been heating up lately, to levels we haven't seen
since the first few years of the UWF's existence. The Youngbloods, Edmond
Winston's New Era, the Pride and the Misfits are bringing back memories
of the "Legion-Pride-Asylum-Empire-nWd" heyday... some good memories and
some bad.
* As usual around Gold Rush time, the subject of roster cuts have come
up once again. No specific names are being thrown around at this point,
but some employees seem to be a little more on edge lately.
* Officials are impressed with the level of chemistry between all five members
of The Pride (Team Canada, Kari Stevens, Tom Landis and Scott Daniels). The company
was hesitant to really feature the group, as the plans for The Pride were originally
to be short term, with Team Canada set to turn on Hotspot and Landis. However, the
tandem seems to have gelled well together, as evidenced by recent strong showings of
unity.
