* During an interview on the syndicated wrestling radio
show "Slammin' the Airwaves" earlier this week, RCW director Robert
Durango clarified the company's position on co-operation with other
wrestling organisations.
Coming on the back of several announcements about inter-promotion
events and closer ties between wrestling companies in several
different countries, Durango said RCW is not looking to follow suit.
"Right now we're only concerned with making the RCW product the best
it can be," Durango said. "I've worked for companies in the past
who've tried to get inter-promotional deals going, and in the end
all it does is add more headaches and not really add any value for
the fans."
Durango also confirmed that RCW has made it clear to its wrestlers
that they are not to describe themselves as "representing RCW" when
competing for other companies. He said RCW isn't looking to get the
wrestlers to sign exclusive contracts. However, he pointed out that
one of the current RCW champions is scheduled to appear on a major
show for a competitor, and he said if this wrestler was to show up
there carrying his RCW championship belt, his contract would be
terminated instantly.
"We're not happy about our guys signing on to wrestle for our main
competitors, but without exclusive contracts it's out of our hands.
We won't do anything about it unless we feel the situation is
hurting RCW."
