Philadelphia based Championship Fighting Federation has announced that it has finally gotten the financial backing it required to be able to run at full operation. The backers are still yet unknown, but suspected to be local establishments and advertisers. The federation was previously solely relying on infomercial revenues and will still have such in their broadcastings.
In addition to their new life - and as a result of - CFF owner and general manager Goku Waru has announced a slew of new signings, some from the Philly area, some from Waru's own past dealings in Japan, and some the fed had previously hired. The new signings are as such:
- Reizo Makoto
* A raw, young talent from Japan and one of the more promising students in Waru's training facilities in Nagoya. Stands at 6'0" but offsets that by his good build and strength.
- Helmut O.
* An experienced mix martial artist-type that has been wrestling in Japan for the past year. Caught the eye of Waru when he was back home. Has been said to be stiff in the ring, though.
- Gran Hashiru
* Wrestling partner of fellow CFF newcomer, El Dragn, that has been wrestling in various Mexico federations over the past five years. Decorated highly before injuring his knee in 2003. Is trying to revive his career in the States and excite the crowd with his lucha style.
- Shin Dokgo
* Korean wrestler that has had an off & on feud with CFF Owner Goku Waru. However, animosities aside, Dokgo is an experienced and innovative mat wrestler.
- Kendo Fuchi
* Another pupil of Waru's camps, hailing from Kobe. A bit of a daredevil in the ring and has had experience in garbage matches in his tours of various federations in Japan.
- El Dragn
* Gran Hashiru's tag team partner. With only two years under his belt, Dragn impressed many of the crowds in Mexico and became a routine main eventer.
- Pure X
* Fairly new wrestler from the Pittsburgh/Johnstown area in western Pennsylvania. Highly touted, though, as he was trained by Mark Langseth and is said to be approaching that skill level very quickly.
- Vachel Desnoyers
* Part of a pair of European wrestlers looking to get their start in the US, Desnoyers has had good experience in English federations. His skill set is mainly limited to power-based moves, but is training to expand into other areas.
- Devry Reignolt
* Charismatic and talented wrestler that has many in the CFF thinking that he'll only stay for a short period of time before moving on to bigger and better things. Still needs a little polish on his ring ability, but everything's there for him to be a star.
- Mister Bob Jones
* Wrestled once on a previous CFF show last year and was adequate in his showing. At 34, he's older than most on the roster, but his ten year career in the indy wrestling scene will be a big value to the younger wrestlers on the roster.
- Marsh Langley
* Hailing from Virginia, he's done well in the mid-south regions and is looking to work his way up. Only agreed to a six-month contract, but hopefully this talented technician stays on the scene.
- Switchblade
* Another former CFF wrestler, he's known for his particularly bloody and violent matches. With Waru wanting to edge a bit more towards the riskier matches, Switchblade should see some matches and fighters that he can tangle with. Has had some problems with fan interaction and inciting, though.
- Tin Can Rust
* One half of the tag team Kentucky Pride, Tin Can Rust holds many a battle with current CFF wrestler Grant Stone. His style's of that of a power/technician, but has chanced some top-rope moves [and can be a sight at 6'6", though not often]. Also of note, he's freidns and former tag team partner of indy superstar City Jack.
- "Gravy Skin" Ross
* The other half of the Kentucky Pride tag team, Ross helped train City Jack while starting his career. Ross has had a long and accomplished history in the wrestling scene in Kentucky. Like his tag team partner, Tin Can Rust, Ross is looking to continue his feud with Stone and his partner, Earl Husker.
- "Fine Diner" Earl Husker
* Dirty, rotten, and slick describes Husker. An experienced wrestler from Kentucky, has had battles with fellow newcomers Tin Can Rust and "Gravy Skin" Ross, as well as City Jack. Is an ally of the arrogant Grant Stone. A good all-around wrestler that can get away with seemingly anything in the ring.
- "Sweet" Livan Siaz
* With only three months experience, Waru's throwing Siaz into the fire quickly as he believes he's ready for real competition. While he hasn't anything that can dazzle you in his arsenal yet, Siaz shows signs of being an impact player in the years to come.
- J'ambler Chaddix
* One half of the Philadelphia-based tag team and fan favorite, the Jet Setters. Chaddix and his partner, Bryant Wornor, saw action last year in the CFF and impressed many. Chaddix is a risk taker and high flyer with a tremendous level of speed in the way he wrestles.
- Bryant Wornor
* The other half of the Jet Setters, Wornor isn't as quick as his partner J'ambler Chaddix, but where he lacks in speed [though, still fast], he makes up for versitility in skills.
- Justin Fight
* The Fight Brothers saw action last year in the CFF and performed to expectations. Justin & Mat still need to train more and can be awkward in the ring at times, but with some work can become good wrestlers.
- Mat Fight
* A bit more lively than his brother Justin, Mat could break off and be a good singles wrestler... but still needs some more time in the training and weight room.
- Ruby Red Rick
* An odd character from Center City Philadelphia, he's definitely got the mic skills down. His in-ring work, though, could use some more experience to become an adequate wrestler.
- Cheng Tai
* Cousin of Shin Dokgo, Tai's career started in True Fighting Spirit, an MMA federations. However, closure forced Tai into the wrestling scene, but he didn't change any of his styles or techniques. A bruising competitor and all-out warrior.
- Jon Wheeling
* One half of the tag team, Wheeling & Dealing, Jon has had a long history in Philadelphia federations - including CFF - and brings his experience and hardcore-based style to the roster.
- Geoff Dealing
* Like his tag team partner, Jon Wheeling, Geoff is a veteran of the ring and of tag team wrestling. Very knowledgable and tricky in the ring.
- Valdemar
* Along with Vachel Desnoyers, Valdemar hails from various European wrestling federations and brings his quick-paced chain wrestling based style to the CFF for his first taste of US style.
Lastly, Goku Waru has also opened up a side venture for more... colorful style of wrestling, named "Trenton Internet Wrestling". This new federation, though, will be broadcast completely over the net and not on CFF's flagship WGTW 48. Waru's labeling this as a pet project to see if there's any interest in gimmick-based wrestling anymore.
The roster is as follows:
