AFL: Hall of Fame Every player dreams of
being part of a premiership team, to celebrate the culmination of a
footballer's career. Footy can fulfill a childhood ambition, or can shatter
dreams. There is no greater achievement than a premiership, but there is also
no second prize. The agony and the ecstasy - that's what makes footy the
greatest game on Earth. The team always comes
first, but we also reward the best and fairest player with the Brownlow
medal, the most prestigious individual accolade in the league. Congratulations Adam Cooney for taking old Charlie home in 2008. |

Hall of Shame If a team's
success and triumph is judged on the number of premierships won, then failure
and humiliation is surely based on the number of wooden spoons collected. In 1916, only four teams competed. Fitzroy finished last at the end of the home-and-away season, thus receiving the "wooden spoon"; but also made the finals - and went on to win the premiership! |
