| "Hey guys." Michelle walked into the waiting room where Haunted Generation already was. "Hey." They all greeted her as she got a round of hugs. When she had been passed around the room, she took a seat in between Justin and Bailey. "This is Bailey and you all know Justin. Bailey this is Haunted Generation." She caught Justin bouncing his knee out of the corner of her eye, and leaned over to whisper to him. "What's wrong?" "Nothing, why?" He whispered into her ear and she felt his warm breath on her neck. "You are bouncing." She tilted her head toward his legs. "Oh, thanks." He made his legs retire thier movement. "Your welcome." She turned her attention to Bailey who was watching them carefully, she smiled to tell him everything was fine. "You look very pretty today. Very professional, my lil Chelly is growing up." He said squeezing her hand. "We both are, I thought I would never see the day you wore slacks and dress shirts." Her eyes ran up and down his outfit. "I know, I guess it was about time." He kept his hand with hers. The lady at the desk asked for Haunted Generation and they all stood except Justin and Bailey who kept thier seats. Michelle and the band made thier way to a corner office which contained a large desk with a dark haired man behind it. Michelle figured he was very important or at least trying to look that way. "Good morning." He greeted them without a handshake or even a nod of the head. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "So how did you and Michelle meet?" Bailey tried to make small talk. "At a coffee shop, I had just moved here and asked her to show me around town. What about you?" Justin kept the conversation going. "One of her friends was in my class and I saw them hanging out I asked her to introduce us. Have you met Angie?" "Yeah, she is a very nice girl. She is the reason me and Michelle are still friends." "What do you mean?" Confusion rang in Bailey's voice. "Oh, she made Michelle send me flowers after she ran out on me." Justin knew it sounded bad. "What did you do?" His first instinct to protect Michelle came out. "Nothing, she just left the resturaunt we were having dinner at suddenly." Justin didn't want to tell him he had been flirting with her. "Angie just has an instinct to get men around Michelle." Chuckles from both men filled the waiting room. "Every since we broke up Angie has been setting her up with men, and probably before me, too." "She told you about other men?" "Yeah, we stayed friends after the break up. Well actually when she moved back we became friends again." "Moved back?" It was Justin's turn to be confused. "Yeah she had moved to in with her Dad right before we broke up. She went to a different school, that's why we broke up. Then she moved back over Christmas vacation, and I saw her at school so I called her." "And she already had a new boyfriend?" "Yeah, Michelle always had a boyfriend in high school. I mean she must have only been single a month the whole time she was in high school. But look at her, I'm surprised it was that long." "Yeah, she is beautiful. What was she like in high school?" Justin tried to keep the conversation rolling. "Pretty much just how she is now. Except now she doesn't smile as much. Well not the way she used to. She used to walk into a room smiling and soon everyone else would be smiling, too. Everyone loved being around her, she was just so uuumm contagious." A smile spread across his face. "But don't let that fool you. She was mean, too. Like one time we were all standing in the cafeteria between classes about a month after her Granny died. Now you have to understand that her Granny and her were very close. She cried for a week straight after she died. Missed school and work for a week, too." He waited for Justin to nod to continue. "Well her boyfriend at the time was griping at her about something, not being home the night before, I think. Well she told him she went for a drive to think and he didn't believe her. He said and I quote 'your Granny is probably spinning in her grave' because he thought she was cheating. Michelle calmly took off a necklace he had given her and placed it in his hand, then punched him. He fell to the floor holding his bloody nose, and she walked away, never losing the smile on her face." He chuckled at the memory. "I guess the difference now is that she just doesn't have the life she did, she doesn't do anything to the extent she did then. Jacob's death really messed her up." He lowered his head. "Sounds like she was a handful back then." He tried to lighten the mood. "Yeah, but she was worth it. She has a very sweet side if you can get her to open up. It's hard though, she's had so much happen to her she keeps a wall up." "I can tell." "I don't know why though, I mean I can understand to an extent, but Jacob wasn't a great guy." "I get that vibe from her, too." His eyes lit up. "It's not a vibe for me. She used to call me crying all the time. Usually when he was out cheating on her." "He cheated on her?" "Yeah, a lot, too. I don't know why she didn't leave him. She was usually very independent and left guys for less. I think she was afraid to call off the wedding because of what everyone would think. But God intervened, made it all right. If he hadn't she would probably be unhappily married right now." Justin was beginning to like the man in front of him more and more by the minute. "You christian?" "Yeah, I used to have a christian rock band around the time we were going out. Michelle and Ginna used to come to all of our rehearsals. I played guitar. Then we just sort of went our seperate ways. I started playing drums for another group, but soon I didn't really have time for the shows and all, so I left the band." "Wow, really? You play any other instruments?" Justin had stopped seeing him as competition soon after Michelle left the room. "I play a little piano, Michelle really loved that. She had a music box from her Granny that played Fur Elise, and I used to play it for her on the phone when she was mad at me. Some women crumble for puppy eyes, Fur Elise is her weakness. But she was always original." "She does seem like the walk to the beat of a different drummer type." His fingers ran through the stubble on his chin. "She is, believe me. It used to piss her off because she would do her hair in wacky ways then the next day all the girls in school would have thier hair the same way." "Really?" "Well not all the girls, but some of them." |
