"Hey." Justin entered the room first, which had been his plan, even a few seconds alone would hopefully help.
"Hey how's it going so far?" Last night when he had first kissed her she thought it was wrong, but he hadn't kissed her again, or even tried, which was making her frustrated.
"Great." He reached around her for his outfit, coming dangerously close to her lips, but not kissing her in the end. The other guys bounded in, full of energy, and making enough noise to quiet the crowd out front.
"Good luck." She called out the door as they all disappeared, after only a few words were spoken. She quickly pulled out her journal, to tell it all about her and Justin's night. All night Justin came in first and left last, but never once did he try to kiss her. Right before she would have usually left she began to wonder if he had come to his senses about a business relationship, or if there was something wrong with her. She pulled her journal from under the couch cushion, then paced the room, deciding whether to leave or wait for him. Certain he would stop by her trailer, she exited the room, dirty clothes in hand. As she expected Justin was in her trailer thirty minutes later, chatting about the concert, still with no signs of kissing her. He didn't even seem to be the least bit uncomfortable about the night before. Certain these men were in need of serious psychiatric help at this point, she checked her watch to make sure Justin left before the buses.
"I'll have to catch the show again, last time I didn't pay too much attention." She admitted, hopeful he wouldn't take it too personal.
"Yeah, JC's stunt must have stunned you." He licked his lips, making her turn red. JC must have told him what she had said that night. Looking back on it, it seemed like it was a lot longer ago than it actually was.
"Kind of." Barely above a whisper she turned away from him to avoid his stare.
"So what do you think of JC?"
"He's nice." Unbelievable, now he was trying to hook her up with JC?
"Well, I better be going, the buses are leaving soon. See you in the next city." He kissed her cheek lightly, then left her with her thoughts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey you asleep?" He lightly rocked her.
"Usually when you have to shake someone to get a response, they are asleep." She rolled over, surprised to see JC instead of Justin.
"Guess what." She turned her attention to the bedside clock to find it was almost two in the morning.
"JC do you know what time it is?"
"Yeah, guess what." Obviously he wasn't going to give up until she gave at least one guess.
"We are under attack, aliens everywhere?"
"No we are at a truck stop."
"Ok, and that is important enough to wake me up because?" She was already crawling from the bed to her closet, in search of something to wear. She may have been acting in control, but she knew in the end she would be outside with him.
"Because truck stops have candy, ice cream, toys, should I go on?" He watched her disappear into the bathroom with clothes in hand, and knew he had won.
"Let's go." She tried to sound like she wasn't excited, but secretly she was hoping to see Justin. And also hoping he would do something, tell her it was wrong, kiss her again, she didn't care, as long as he acknowledged the fact that it had happened.
"Thank you, I just won ten bucks." He winked at her before adding. "I'll split it with you."
"Who bet that I wouldn't come?"
"Joey, he thinks girls don't like truck stops."
"Well, we'll just have to prove him wrong, huh?" She passed through the front door JC was holding open, taking in the whole scene. Joey and Chris were busy looking through a rack of tapes, while Lance hurriedly searched through the candy aisle. Finally she laid eyes on Justin, who had already spotted her, and was coming to join them.
"Well hello." Justin lightly kissed her cheek, then squeezed her hand before dropping it.
"Good morning." A new thought crossed her mind, maybe he didn't want to do anything in front of the guys. That still wouldn't explain all the times they had been alone though.
"So what you getting?" JC deserted them in favor of the candy aisle where Lance was still looking.
"Don't know yet, you?" He held up his hands to show her he hadn't found anything yet, then pulled her to the refridgerated shelfs, in search of something to drink. She opened a frosted door, then pulled out a bottle of water.
"Water? That's no fun." Justin returned his attention to the shelves before him before she had a chance to say anything.
"I am going to look around." She informed, then turned to leave, deciding that joining JC on the candy aisle would be eventful.
"So, back to normal with you two?" JC refered to her and Justin.
"I wish." The words didn't even register to JC as he put an arm around her hip, pulling her towards a shelf of figurines.
"Look, Garfield, I wonder how old that is."
"Pooh! I have to get this." She picked up the small trinket that depicted Winnie-the-Pooh smiling down at Piglet.
"Find anything good?" Startled that Justin had been directly behind her without her knowing, she turned and held up the figurine without a word.
"If you are ready I am." JC pulled her from Justin, thinking Justin made her too nervous to speak. One minute he thought they had made up, the next he wasn't sure what was going on.
"Sure I'm ready." Was this a game to them? Or was pulling staff members in a hundred directions normal?
"Here I'll get that." He pulled her purchases from her hands, dropping them onto the counter with his own.
"No, I can get it." She started to retrieve them but JC blocked her hands.
"I owe you five dollars remember?" He motioned for the man to ring up the items, not giving Jaden a chance to protest.
"You men." She turned, rubbing her forehead, to find Justin right behind her. What was he a damn cat? This was starting to get old, everytime she turned around, Justin or JC were pulling her somewhere. She had to admit it was a little exciting, but she would like to have at least some say in where she was going.
"Us men? What about us?" Justin flashed his patented smile, raising his eyebrows for effect. She pulled her items from JC, thanked him, then made her way back to her trailer. She was certain she wouldn't be getting anymore sleep, so she turned on the television. All in the Family seemed to be the only thing watchable, so she tried to get into the show, leaving her thoughts behind. Surprisingly, she fell asleep a few minutes later, curled up on the couch.
