| My Best Friend's Three Faces |

| James Martinez is an ordinary lonely 12 year old boy who has no friends, not even one, and he is probably the most lonely boy in his school. One time, he was awakened in the middle of the night by a strange noise which came from his backyard. James went outside and tried to see who it was. He didn't see much but he saw that it was a boy sneaking out of his backyard. The next day, James was walking home from school when he spotted a boy sitting by himself by the stoplight and quickly remembered the boy he saw sneaking away from his backyard. James walked up to the boy and starts talking to him, "Hey there, what's your name?" The boy looked at him as if studying him. He looked at James for awhile then started walking away. James followed him and the boy all of a sudden stopped and out of nowhere said, "Bobby!" "What?" James asked. "My name is Bobby," he responded. "My name is James, nice to meet you Bobby". The next afternoon, James once again was walking home from school and he saw Bobby by the stoplight and he talked to him. James asks him if he wanted to hang out with him. Bobby thought about it for awhile but then decided to go with James. The two had become really good friends after that. Bobby was also 12 years old, just like James. James now realized that he had found his best friend and he was finally happy. The same with Bobby. Bobby went to James' house almost everyday except for one day when James asked if the could go to Bobby's house for a change but Bobby said "No," and when James asked why not, he didn't tell him. James didn't know where Bobby lived or what he went to. He also didn't know that Bobby was hiding something from him. The two became closer and closer as friends everyday and they had been good friends for about two months. For two days, James did not see or hear from Bobby and he wondered what could have happened to him. He didnt't even have Bobby's phone number so he couldnt get in touch with him. One afternoon, James was at home watching TV when the news came on, and on the news they have reported that a boy about 12 years old was caught stealing from the 7-11 store and James realized that it was Bobby's face on TV. The next day after school, James was walking home when he saw Bobby by the stoplight waiting for him, and James was happy to see him but in a way he was also scared of him. The two talked and James asked him what the whole store robbery thing was about and they talked for awhile. Bobby told James his big secret. "James, I have something really important to tell you". "What?" James asked in a worried tone of voice. "I'm not a real human being," Bobby continued "I was made by a machine that duplicated people. The kid you saw robbing the store was not me." "I dont understand," said James, and Bobby said "Meet me tomorrow evening at the park and I'll tell you everything." Then he ran off. James could not help thinking what Bobby was talking about and it had kept him up all night thinking. The next evening, James was at the park when he saw a boy that looked exactly like Bobby and he yelled his name. The boy turned around and said, "I'm not Bobby," but the boy had Bobby's face. "What are you talking about?" he asked. He turned around and saw another boy that had Bobby's face and this time he was shocked and confused. "Bobby?" he asked, and the boy nodded, it wasnt Bobby, then a voice somewhere called James' name. It was another Bobby-faced boy. He said, "James it's me, Bobby." James asked, "Bobby, what's going on? How come there's three of you? Bobby explained everything. "James, do you remember that boy you saw robbing the store?" "Yes", answered James. "That's him," Bobby said, pointing to one of the boys who had his face. He escaped from the cops today. The other Bobby-faced kid did nothing, he only hung out while the other two found something to do. Bobby continued to explain. "James we don't have a home , we only sneak into people's backyards every night and leave before the sun rises". James suddenly remembered the boy he saw sneaking away from his backyard one night. "Is that why you never told me where you live and what school you go to? Bobby said "Yes". He also explained that the three of them separated and just reunited that night and that they only ate whatever was left over in the garbage. |
