Running the Gambit
Rogue always was curious. So instead of getting ready for her date with Remy, she was in the library looking something up. Specifically, the meaning of the word gambit.
gam�bit- (gam�bit) n. 1 One of various opening moves in chess, in which a pawn or piece is risked to obtain an advantage. 2 Any opening move or strategy.
Well that was definitely what she would need, a strategy; but not what she thought it meant. Marie scanned the page to see if she saw the meaning of a word that matched what she thought gambit meant. Then there it was.
gam�ut (gam��t) n. 1 The entire range of musical tones. 2 The whole range of anything: the gamut of emotions.
Yup. That�s been me today. Surprise, love, hate, desire, all of �em.

Marie looked in the mirror as she finished getting ready to go out with Remy. The tight short sleeved blue shirt was perfect, as was the black skirt. She tied on one of her favorite scarves, not as protection but as an accessory, and then laced up her favorite pair of mid-calf high heeled boots. This should get Logan�s attention, as well as everyone else in the world. But that�s the idea. Her plan wasn�t necessarily the nicest, but it would definitely work. Make Logan realize what the entire world already knows, and make Remy jealous. I shouldn�t be so mean to Remy. He has been nice. And he is taking me out for my birthday. Seems like he and Logan are the only ones who noticed. What can I say? True love burns its way to the top once more. Embers catching fire. Now to make sure that Logan stays around to stoke the flames.

Marie heard Remy�s breath catch as she came down the stairs. She also saw Logan�s very hard stare and heard him growl possessively. She even heard Scott�s low whistle before Jean stabbed him with her elbow.
�Ready Remy?�
�Absolutely, chere.�
Marie walked towards the door smiling as Remy tired to walk behind her.

At the restaurant, Remy seemed very preoccupied. Ok so what�s up him? she thought as the food was being served.
�What is it Remy?� she asked after the waiter left.
�It�s nothing, chere.�
�Is it about the surprise party? Don�t look surprised, y�all asked Jubilee to keep a secret. It�s impossible for her to keep a secret. But she didn�t tell me, I overheard.�
�No, Remy figured you�d already know. Is something that the Goddess told Remy.�
�What was that?�
�The Goddess, she told Remy to tell you how he feels about you.�
�Oh.�
�Rogue, Remy�he, he is jealous of your relationship with that Wolverine. He�I would have you for myself. No one else. But, I understand, if you do not feel the same way.�
Marie sat dumbfounded as Remy got up and headed for the men�s room.
