Before you actually start reading, I just wanna let you know this was one of my embarrassing moments...so it is based on a true story...enjoy!!!

Joe and the Block (a true story)

It was back in my high school (John F. Kennedy) years in 1998, when i was a member of the track and field team (in Guam).  I became a hurdler (hurdles event, you know, those things on the track that you see people jumping over) and later (in 1999) I became a part of merciless band of hurdlers called the "little dwendes (this was due to the fact that the hurdlers, including me, were no bigger than the hurdles themselves).  Anywhos, its was during practice that this funny event of mine happened.

Its was a hot and dry day at the track and every body was practicing for the first track meet.  Not only was this the teams first official competition, but it was my first time as well in the event.  My coach designated me to join the hurdle team.  After several verbal training and education on the event itself it was time to test what i had learned.  My coach asked me to go to the storage area and grab three starting blocks (you know, that thing that the sprinters get on and kick off when they are about to run, but see you have to understand that i did not know what or how a starting block looked like--i was a total beginner at the time).  I told my coach, "okay!" and started off to go to the storage area.  But alas, it just came to me that i did not know how a starting block looked like and that i was already too far from my coach to ask him.   So as i continued walking toward the storage room, one of the teams' top runner was just about to pass me.  I called his name and asked him.......(well actually, i hesitated to ask him how a starting block looks like...so instead...)...."where are the starting blocks located in the storage room?"   The top runner said, "there should be one right next to the door once you open it and three more in the far left corner."  Keeping this in mind i thanked him and bed him farewell.
When i reached the storage room, i opened it up and tried to remember where the starting blocks were.  So i looked to the directions i was told and i saw alot of track and field things.  But again, i did not know how a starting block looked like, or better yet, didn't really care.   I looked around and found out that the only blocks i see were hollow blocks (yes, the ones you use for construction).  I mean the hollow blocks were all over the place.  So struggling to even think about how the actual starting blocks looked, i just grabbed three hollow blocks, stacked them up, and carried them off back to my coach.
As i was struggling carrying these hollow blocks back.  Approaching toward my coach, he had his back turned and i over heard him say,  "where is joe with those starting blocks?"  Then to my response i replied loudly, "
well, i like to see you carry these!"  My coach turns around to see me and the blocks (he thought he requested for).....and smiled..................and..........................(okay.  we will stop here)

Yup!  that was one of my embarrasing moments, but i could care less now about the event now (well not really).  I hope you liked that...
