Mountain Hash
What it's all about?
Mountain Hash is about drinking beer, riding mountain bikes, partying, and drinking beer.
A lot of people ride their mountain bikes for both exercise and for the fun of it.
It's usually a lot more fun if your ride with others. An then we can all have a beer.

Fortnightly Rides.
We meet once each fortnight for a ride, followed by a circle, drinking beer, and tucker.

Mountain hashing.
Mountain hashing is a non competitive social sport, based on the principles of the long running, International Hash House Harriers.

A person, known as “the hare” sets a trail using flour , to produce marks on the ground for others to follow.
The marks are set at fairly regular intervals, and are designed to be easy to follow.
Other marks usually used are the Tee, which means the trail could go left or right, the circle (or 360) which means the trail could go in any direction from that point

However, some trails are deceptions, or false trails, leading to only to a “False Trail” marker, which is usually a triangle. In the case of a false trail, the rider should turn around and return to the last Tee or 360, and see where the rest of the pack have gone.
Another mark is the halt or check, which is meant to hold the entire pack of riders at a particular spot until the slower riders have caught up.
Sometimes, usually about half way through the ride, drinks may be provided at the halt.

The use of the false trails and halts, is to keep the group together as much as possible.
Faster riders, will tend to take more false trails, as they get to the Tees and 360s first.

Equipment Required
    •  The first piece of equipment required is a mountain bike. This should be of good sturdy construction, and be mechanically sound.
    • A helmet must be worn. The helmet also is to be in good condition. No cracks or dents and with the outer shell intact.
    • A water bottle or hydrating backpack.
    • Optional, but highly recommended: Riding gloves. These can minimise injuries to the hands if a spill occurs.
