I was, but now I am

    I watched a caterpillar
    Hanging on a branch
    spinning her cocoon
    Am I like that caterpillar?

    Like the delicate creature,
    who started as a small egg implanted in a womb.
    Emerging;
    Small, shivering, wriggling, scared, hungry
    So I ate, and learned
    Wisdom coming by the second
    Cluttering my over-anxious mind with intriguingly new ideas.
    Growing tall
    Loosing the baby teeth as the caterpillar sheds it's skin.
    Growing older, the cocoon spinning
    School now! Friends! Recess!
    The age of playtime, of innocence
    More wisdom, more independence
    My cocoon of family, church, and school growing
    Homework, boys, new challenges, more responsibility
    Maturity, High School
    My cocoon is almost finished, almost
    ready to break open
    coming...
    Crack!
    It's here! Graduation, Independence, Grown up!
    Or is it?
    It's just the beginning of more ideas!
    Just spreading my fresh wings!
    Just about to enter a different world;
    My new life!
    Exploring new heights!

    Yes, I was that caterpillar,
    but now I am a butterfly.
