JUNO-6 RESOURCE PAGE

Sound creation

When creating sounds for the first time, a good approach is to attempt to recreate the sound instruments you are already familar with. Provided you understand the controls on your JUNO-6, you should be able to follow along with these steps and not be confused.

As a functional example, here's some steps on how to create a simple bass patch:

  1. Set your filter completely open and Resonance and HPF all the way down.
  2. Select SAW as your only active waveform.
  3. Your VCA switch should be set to GATE.
  4. Set your Octave switch on the Performance controls to "low"
  5. Try to play on the keyboard, and Slowly close your filter to taste.

You already have a patch that sounds great.

Lets Now create a lead sound using square waves and PWM:

  1. Set your filter completely open and Resonance and HPF all the way down.
  2. Select SQUARE and SUB OSC as your only active waveforms.
  3. Move the PWM source selector to LFO and place PWM slider about halfway.
  4. Adjust LFO speed to whatever value you deam appropriate.
  5. Set your Octave switch on the Performance controls to its middle position.
  6. Your VCA switch should be set to ENV.
  7. Experiment with the ADSR controls so your sound pumps in and doesn't take a terribly long amount of time to fade out.
  8. If you want, experient with adding some ENV mod to your VCF using it's slider.

Does your patch sound familar?

Now go out there and make your own dang sounds!
