Featured Dilemma:

How do I get AutoCAD to use a directory I made as its root directory?

Dear  Dazed and Confused,

This isn't an "AutoCAD" command that cures your problem but, there is a simple solution. Put your cursor on your AutoCAD startup icon (the one on your desktop) and rightside click it. You will see a menu pop up that lists

Open
send to
cut
copy
etc
Properties <- select this one

Select properties and you will see a properties windows dialoge popup, at the top of this box you will see two tabs go to the one that says "shortcut". You will see a box that is labeled "Start in" and this is where you will put your custom folder/directory that you have your drawings in.

It is important that if the folder is on your desktop to put the full path in this box. ie ..
c:/windows/desktop/mydrawingfolder

Good luck!

Jim

Dear Jim,

I have made a folder/directory on my destop that contains all my drawings. I want AutoCAD to look in this folder first for drawings. Is this possible? IF it is possible how do I do it?

Sincerely,
Dazed and Confused,
