CAD ADVICE
Featured Dilemma:
Should I upgrade to AutoCAD 2008?
Dear  Young and yearning,

Autodesk products have been gettng better and better with every release I've seen so far.  Autodesk has been doing some serious beta testing on every new version and has actual customers doing the testing. Autodesk has also been listening to their customer's wish lists and incorporating them into the new versions.

There are some new features I've seen that are well worth the money. Features like Annotative text styles that change dynamically with your scale factor are big time savers. There has also been a big push to put all your input at the cursor. I think they are even trying to eliminate the command line, (which of course I'm against doing). It is nice to have everything right at your cursor and the extra menus the dynamic input provides is nice.

To answer your question, my opinion, YES, upgrade if you can afford it. You may want to check with your Autodesk vendor they are doing subscriptions these days and it will save you money on your upgrades.

Good luck!
Jim
Dear Jim,

Autodesk has been putting out a new version of AutoCAD every year since 2004. Is it worth it to upgrade every year?

Sincerely,
Young and yearning,
