Featured Dilemma:
Dtext control codes - UPDATED 11/27/01 read at bottom
Hector,

The control codes (%%nnn) are also the same as the
ascii numbers. There are 2 ways to find them:
1) Download
ASCII.LSP (an old autodesk lisp program) load it and run it. All the characters and corrisponding numbers will be printed out to the screen and to a textfile "ascii.txt." The corrisponding numbers are what you put inplace of "nnn.".
2) Use character map program that comes with windows use the number that shows up in the lower righthand corner ie
alt-0162 is the the %%162 will give you the same thing.

Inciendtly if you hold down the alt and type in the control number, it puts the character in also.

As far as the second part of your question, the best way is to make a block for the centerline symbol. As you get into the ascii codes you will notice that there is not a code for the centerline symbol. You might however find a font simular to
symbol or wingdings that has the centerline symbol in it.

Good luck!
Jim
Jim,

Where can I get a listing of control codes for  %%nnn for special chacters in
DTEXT?
Also, is there a centerline symbol available if not, how can I create one that I can insert with a code rather than as a block?

Jim,
I was reading a Q&A pertaining to Dtext control codes.  Part of the question asked if there was a centerline symbol code in Autocad.  If you create an MText block of text and type the lowercase "q" using GDT.shx,
you will get a centerline symbol, though it is not very pretty.  Pass this on if you find it helpful.
