Featured Dilemma:

Jim Gets Stumped on Happy Faces

Robin,

I wish I could tell you I knew exactly why but, the
truth is that your question I can not answer exactly. I do know that ICONS are bmp files 16 x 16 and that the regular icons are stored within .MNR file. The MNR file is a compiled file. When you get the smiley face its becuase the menu has lost the link to the corasponding BMP file. I believe if you save every ICON as a BMP in a specific directory you will be able to reload them rather easily. Just go back to custom where you made them and there is a button there for "open" and just open the old ones you made. Sorry I couldn't help you out more. I must admit I stick mostly to my old pull downs and just use the toolbars for the simple stuff. I was disalusioned myself when I found out about the smiley faces and quit customizing them.

Jim,

Happy face command icons ? I know that when you customize your command icons, the mns file is recompiled into the mnc file and at the same time creates a matching mnr file. So... How do you get the happy faces to change back? Do you save the old menu files as something else before making costume changes ? and why does it make happy faces anyway ? I await your reply.

Yeah I'm human and don't know it all. If anyone out there does know the answer to this question would you please Email Robin Robin at [email protected] and CC me too.

Thanks Jim
