MY BEAUTIFUL ISLE OF SOMEWHERE

Episode 11

See here, said Tom, you're telling me that all that I've been taught
of loving, sharing, being kind
has only gone for naught

I cannot understand it, my mind is in a whirl
if you'll explain it to me
I might give it a burl

because I see in what you say, a tiny little glimmer
of what I've been concerned about,
my future's getting dimmer

Then he said, quite plaintively, "I'm really tired of crap
I hope that what you've got to say
will help fill in the Gap"

The gap? you say, said Salty, Yes, gap, I said, says Tom
It's like a great big hole in me
I don't know what it's from?

It seems like something's missing from somewhere deep inside
as though it was a part of me
that curled right up and died

I've always felt this way, Tom said, I know that something's missing
the psych doc said I'd get it back
through huggin' and a'kissing

I didn't like that fluffy stuff, I really cannot stand it
I never did like soppy talk
yet others can demand it

So when they did, I'd scurry off until they went away
and then I'd get my footy out
to go outside and play

There's nothing wrong, said Salty, with being reticent
and children need to learn quite young
to follow their own bent

The `Gap' you have inside you is not because your cold
towards other who will try their best
to bring you to their fold

In fact, we all admire you for going your own way
not thinking thoughts that aren't your own
nor under other's sway

The life you lead is yours to choose, let this be understood
what we're about to tell you now
is for the `common good'
