Archibald PEERS moved to the clean air of Murrayville where he became involved in the drilling of government bores for the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission in the Mallee. Archibald was an engineer, who prior to coming to the Mallee, owned the Coburg Cable Trams. http://www.tmsv.org.au/papers/horse.htm Previously, he worked for many years as a ship's engineer One of his sons is an engineer who, at the end of the WW2 purchased a lot ex army machinery for sole purpose of using the heavy amour plate in the manufacture of earth moving equipment. The engines were used in machinery he adapted and developed. This machinery was used to build and maintain roads and in the quarrying industry. The family would like to preserve all information and relics of these early pioneers in a very harsh desert area of Australia. This web site put up by a good friend of the family who does not know much of the story at all but would like to add more here. Especially about the early pioneers in the desert with a view to preserving the history of this quite brilliant family and letting the younger generations share the history. Please advise me of any other information about the Peers Pioneers of Murrayville or photos of old houses owned by the family so I can put a copy up here. Found
one present day Peers Motors in Murrayville on the internet there are several
others also living there, 2006.
