"Fred W Peers" stockbroker, Sketch by Lionel Lindsay,  1896 Melbourne newspaper "Free Lance"

This refers to Frederick William Peers probably the one who owned a large property on the Dandenong Road, Caulfield, Melbourne.

He was born in Lancaster England 1842  son of  William Hunter Peers, who in 1840  at Liverpool,  married Janet Grimes daughter of John Grimes Customs Officer and Renwick of Toxteth Park , Lancashire, born Scotland.
English ancestors details from    certificates of this marriage and his birth  obtained about 1993

Frederick William Peers  is believed to have owned a property at the corner of Westbury Street and Dandenong road, South East. House was called Holmesdale [ sp?] now in East St Kilda.Where 2006 there appears to be a school playground with Ardoch house to the East and St Marys school to the south.
"Ardoch", was a suburb near St. Mary's church, ."Ardoch"  high school, which closed in 1989, was restored under heritage guidance by the Urban Land Authority and 94 apartments built.

"Ardoch has had many lives. From 1867 it was the home of William Wardell...During the 1920s, Arts and Crafts style flats  From 1978 a small, vibrant alternative school ... In 1993 Ardoch returned to private housing. Address: 226 Dandenong Road, East St Kilda "http://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au/heritage_recognition_program.html

Murrayville Branch of the Peers Family:       to contribute more please contact emails below.
Archibald  PEERS moved to the clean air of  Murrayville where he became  involved in the drilling of government bores for the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission in the  Mallee.  Archibald was an engineer, who prior to coming to the Mallee, owned the Coburg Cable Trams. http://www.tmsv.org.au/papers/horse.htm   Previously, he worked for many years as a ship's engineer

One of his sons  is an engineer who, at the end of the WW2  purchased a lot ex army machinery for sole purpose of using the heavy amour plate in the manufacture of earth moving equipment.  The engines were used in machinery he adapted and developed.  This machinery was used to build and maintain roads and in the quarrying industry.

The family would like to preserve all information and relics of these early pioneers in a very harsh desert area of Australia.

This web  site put up by a  good  friend of the family who does not know much of  the story at all but would like to add more here. Especially  about the early pioneers  in the desert with a view to preserving the history of this quite brilliant family and letting the younger generations share the history.

Please advise me of any other information about the Peers Pioneers of Murrayville or  photos of old houses owned by the family so I can put a copy up here.

Found  one present day Peers Motors in Murrayville on the internet there are several others also living there, 2006.
