The Tackroom
Here's my showroom of hand-made tack. A lot of my models have real Julip saddles and bridles, but a while ago I enjoyed making them more realistic and varied tack too. I had a go at everything I could think of!

Here is the very pretty pony Topaz, modelling a headcollar in gold-edged green ribbon. This was very fiddly to sew, but it looks very smart. I've since taken to gluing halters instead, much easier!
(Left) Looking through my old saddler's catalogues for something new and different to make, I came up with the idea for this little foal slip for Ted. Copied from the old Dutch pattern, the nose and headpiece are all one piece, crossing under the jaw, so they adjust to any shape as the foal grows. There are no metal parts for him to hurt himself, and a short 'catching strap' under the chin.
(Left) I made this in-hand stallion set for my 50th Anniversary Palomino Pony. He wears a smart leather roller with a 'running' side rein - the leather passes through a metal ring at the top of the roller instead of being in two parts and buclking to the sides. The in-hand bridle has a 'brass' clencher browband and noseband, with matching brass bit rings and buckles. As you can see, I've plaited his mane up for these photos, and I think he looks fantastic!
(Right) Taffy's lovely new in-hand show bridle. With a plaited ribbon browband, fancy-stitched noseband and brass lead chain, Taffy looks very smart. I've made a lot of this style of bridle for my other julips, in various colours.
