Memorial Day Weekend 2006, Washington D.C.
In what is starting to become a tradition, we spent our Memorial Day Weekend this year in Washington D.C.  We were here in 2004, and then 2005 was spent in the Pacific Northwest.  Now that we're living in North Carolina and DC is only 4.5 hours away, it was a no-brainer of where to go this year.  We love DC - such a fabulous place!  We stayed at the Holiday Inn - Rosslyn, just across the Potomac from DC.
James in our hotel room
the night view from our room (15th floor) - Julie with the National Cathedral just above her left shoulder
After a fun Friday night at the Brickskeller with the girls we got up and hit the town.  View 1 from the balcony - Georgetown University, the National Cathedral & the Potomac
View 2 - the Francis Scott Key Bridge
View 3 - more Potomac & trendy Georgetown
We met up with Katy & Alexis in town - here's the obligatory self-portrait
The National Museum of the American Indian.  Cool stuff inside, but the organization was a bit scattershot.  Great building though!
Cross the street, and there's the Capitol, with a nice reflecting pool
and looking left...
turn around from that reflecting pool, and there's the Washington Monument and The Mall
Julie, Katy & Alexis oustide the Museum of the American Indian
The National Archives - contains the Declaration of Independence,
the Constitution, the Emancipation Proclamation & many other awesome things
after walking down The Mall we hit the Museum of American History which was very disappointing.  Some good exhibits, like the original Star Spangled Banner, but overall it was a pretty poor museum.

That evening we went out to Georgetown and did some window shopping before having pizza with a couple of Katy's friends at an amazing pizza place -
Pizza Paradiso.
