AWFULLY BIG ADVENTURE Norway to Iceland
Hi Folks,

In case you thought we landed somewhere in the North Sea, yes we are still alive.  We are just having too much fun to email.  Sorry about the delay though.  I will also check with the web master about the site which people seem to be having a problem with.  The story goes as follows...

July 30th - Bergen, Norway to Reykjavik, Iceland (6 hrs)

We left Bergen on a hot day (24 degrees) and put on our survival suits (you will have to see the photos) for the flight over the North Sea.  The suits are like dry suits for scuba diving (orange colour with hoods, one size fits all.) and are hot to wear.

Anyways, off we went directly off Norway and over the North Sea where we could see alot of oil drilling rigs.  We then passed the Prime Meridian (0 degrees longtitude) and then over the Faro Islands (look on a map) to the coast of Iceland.  As you can imagine, not alot to see but water up to there.

We then flew along the Iceland for one hour which was just beautiful.  We flew over 2 permanent glaciers and many fjords and valleys.  Hard to believe people live down there.    We realised that the area that we flew over was the same area that we would be walking in a few days.

The weather was great and we landed without problem at Reykjavik airport (for light aircraft) in 10 degree weather and pouring rain, a typical summer Iceland day.  The first person we met there was a Canadian from Toronto who was flying some rich people around.

The light aircraft airport is conveniently located 2 km from the city centre (the original airport from the 60s) so we put on our back packs and walked into town.

We then spent the last 3 days hiking in the beautiful Laumanulanger (something like that ) park (75 kms in 3 days) which included a nice 9 hour walk on the last day.  This was due to getting lost on a glacier in 10 m visibility on a mountain pass for about one hour.  Must brush up on the navigational skills... (the path is hear somewhere...)

Tomorrow we are onto Greenland, weather permitting.  Looking forward to putting on those survival suits again....  I hope we can get internet access there (Greenland population 60,000).  I expect it to be cccold.....

In case you were wondering, we think the mouse got out in Bergen...

Ill update you soon.
