| Bigfoot's favorite Camper Chowder recipe 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil Leg of one large American camper, a size somewhere between David Gilmour and Refrigerator Perry, (whole, cubed)* One large bulb of garlic, cloves peeled and sliced thin One large brown onion, peeled and sliced thin Four large whole carrots, peeled and cut into 1/2" slices Five stalks of celery, sliced crosswise One 12 oz. package of wide egg noodles 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 t. white pepper Sautee the onion in the olive oil in a covered 2 quart sauce pan for 30 minutes over low heat. Add the celery and carrot and continue to sautee for another 10 minutes. Add the salt, garlic and 3 quarts of spring water, bring to a boil. Add the leg of the camper, Doc Marten and hair removed. Simmer on low heat for about one hour, or until tender. Add the noodles and cook until al dente. Top with any or all of the following: croutons, ketchup, mayonnaise, marshmallow cream, Banana-Nut Crunch Cereal, broken tortilla chips, nacho cheese, pokeys, chopped peanuts, or crumbled feta or blue cheese. Serve with a good rustic red California Zinfandel. Warning: do not use that pink-white Zinfandel. Bigfoot does not acknowledge pink wines. *when camper is out of season, use chicken. back |
