Why God Made Brothers
God knew the need for someone
to add humor to our hearts
someone who would spice
up our lives
with laughter and mischief
someone we could run to
for special comfort and friendship
someone whose life would
touch ours
in a hundred different ways....
so He made Brothers.

I miss everything about my sister, Julie, especially her beautiful smiling face and larger-than-life sense of humor and laugh. I miss her funny stories that could turn a totally bad day into a good one! She could always make me smile, no matter what. In high school, I would really look forward to Fridays so I could go spend the weekend at hers and Glen's house in Ballinger. I had a lot of fun there. Julie had a beautiful voice, but wouldn't sing in front of just anyone. When we were alone and a good song was playing, she would sing out so loud and pretty. I can't sing, but I would try, and we would have a regular duet going! At the spur of the minute, we would jump in a vehicle and drive to someplace really beautiful like a river or creek and just sit out there and visit. A lot of the times, we went down to our family's old place at Hext on the river. We both loved the outdoors and would go sit in the deer blinds and watch deer and turkey until the sun went down. I remember visiting at her house when I was younger and her coming into the room where I was sleeping in the middle of the night to make sure I was covered up. Then she would kiss me on the forehead and say, "I love you, baby brother!" I always pretended to be asleep when she did this . This was one of the special things she did for me. She let me drive her cars and pickups long before I had my license. I thought it was so cool when she'd pull over and say, "here Bubba, do you want to drive?" I had little driving experience, but she had faith in my ability, whether in the middle of town, on the highway, or on a dirt road! Julie collected all kinds of pretty rocks and we went to different places looking for them. She had lots of rocks and could tell you where she got each of them! I remember helping her change the oil in her pickup. She knew exactly what she was doing and wasn't afraid of getting dirty. I thought her doing that was really something. I am going to really miss having her to confide in. We had few secrets from each other and could talk to each other about most anything. She helped me out so many times and I learned a lot from her over the years. Actually, we both learned from each other through our mistakes. She was such a good sister to me. I will always remember all of the good times that we had together and the good times we all had as a family. I know she is watching over us all from Heaven.
I love you with all of my heart, Julie, and will never forget you. Love, your little brother, Jerry D Jackson, Jr

Jerry, please don't shed any more tears
You know that your sis will always be near
To watch over my #1 little brother
the like of whom there will not be another
We had many, many good times together
Through sunshine, storms, and all kinds of weather
We stood by each other through good times and bad
But remember the happy times and forget the sad
I trusted you, you trusted me--
many shared secrets had we
Some were good and some were bad
But we learned from all these times we had
You told such silly redneck jokes
You made me laugh, you made me smile
You really made my life worthwhile
My precious little brother, my trusted friend
I want so much for you--a good life, a good wife
Some beautiful little nieces and nephews
With that famous "Bubba" style and smile
Peace, love, happiness, a little home of your own
To share with a special girl who'll love you too
All of these things I pray for you
Because little brother, you mean the world to me
I've always loved you, that's plain to see
So as you hold me close in memory
Even though we're apart
Remember I'll always live
In that special little corner of your heart.
