In Appreciation
March 18, 2002

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to those whose contributions and generosity have enabled us to have this beautiful website in memory of my daughter, Julie, who was killed December 18 in a head-on collision. First, my son, Jerry, who contacted Judi Walker with Treasured Memories about the possibility of doing a website for Julie. He got things rolling for the site with Judi and then turned it over to me to work on. This proved to be a lifesaver for me--literally preserving my sanity during the worst three months of my life. It gave me something worthwhile to focus on during my grief to keep my daughter's memory alive for her little son, our family, and her many friends. It also allows us to tell her story and introduce her to others.
Then there is my new friend, Judi Walker, of Watson, LA. She is a new friend, but one whom I feel will be in my life and heart for many years to come. She has labored with me and shared my heartache as only another mother who has lost a child could do. I have changed my mind many times during the construction of this website as to what to put on each page, etc, but she has been very patient and kind through it all. She has given us a gift with this website that is priceless. She has helped me find a haven of love and peace through contact with other mothers who have lost children. Judi, herself, lost her only son, Shane, through a senseless act of violence four years ago. He was only nineteen years old at the time, married, and the father of twin baby girls. She wanted a website for Shane but they were very expensive, so she vowed to learn to do it herself. She did and built a beautiful website for Shane and then promised him that she would make them for any other parent losing their child and wanting one. This is a true labor of love to other parents as it takes countless hours away from her own family. She has a husband and two daughters still in school. She does this as a tribute to Shane's memory. What a beautiful tribute from his beautiful mother! He must be so proud. Shane was the same age as Jerry and that forged a bond between Jerry and Judi also.
Together, Judi and Peggy Martin created Treasured Memories in memory of their children, Shelley and Shane. They make these websites for parents who have lost children, free of charge. Please enter the Treasured Memories link on Julie's website to learn more about Shelly and Shane.
I wish to thank longtime photographer friends from Sonora, Jerry and Nancy Johnson. They have Photo Ranch studio in Sonora. Through their friendship and professional efforts over the years, I have many, many quality pictures of my children during their school days and extra-curricular activities. Approximately twenty of their pictures are featured on Julie's web page.
Special thanks to Francine Pucillo for giving me permission to use two of her beautiful poems on Glen's Page and The Funeral and Julie's Resting Place.
I wish to thank graphics by Penny Parker, Moon and Back, Kereyna, Roxy's, Buzzerb, Pat's Web Graphics, and Janette--Our God Reigns, for the use of their beautiful background sets.
Last, but not least, I wish to thank the special person in my life, Owen Gray, for the gift of the wonderful scanmaker that enabled me to scan and email all of the pictures for the webpage to Judi. Also for his constant loyalty and support over the past seven years, especially during the loss of Julie.
