Five ways to help Labour win

Julie Morgan MP and Sue Essex AM are continuing their campaign to save Llanishen and Lisvane Reservoirs from a destructive housing development.

Western Power Distribution now have four planning applications before Cardiff Council, and local press stories indicate that the company is stepping up its campaign against Llanishen RAG - the public pressure group against the proposals.

Julie and Sue, along with the Llanishen Labour Team, have consistently opposed the development. On 21 June, the AM and MP met with WPD representatives to make clear residents' continued opposition to the company's plans.

Julie said: "Part of the Llanishen Reservoir is now a Site of Special Scientific Interest, but WPD are pressing ahead with their plans regardless.

"In recent weeks, it appears that the water level at the reservoirs has dropped, which is very dispiriting. It endangers the activities of the Llanishen Sailing Club, which I am a great supporter of.

"There are also 'keep-out' signs and Alsatians at the reservoirs, barking wildly at anyone walking nearby. The whole atmosphere is very unfriendly."

Sue Essex AM said: "The Llanishen Reservoir Action Group has led a superb campaign against the development. Scientifically and environmentally WPD's proposals make no sense. This is a precious public resource and we will continue to fight for it to be protected."
