I
believe everyone should have a hobby. Our modern life is so rushed and
stressful, that nobody is excempt from experiencing stress at one time or other.
From personal experience, I can vouch for the stress relieving effect, anything
creative has on a person. I have never been much of a gardener, but the idea of
growing a plant and then being able to use this plant in a variety of
applications, was enough tickle my interest.
I
started out by reading a lot, and saying, “one day I’ll create an
herb garden, and then….”. Then fate stepped in and I was retrenched. I felt
very sorry for myself, so much so that my husband hired a gardener to remove a
patch of grass from the garden, took me by the hand and said ‘There, start
your herb garden!’
Well,
that was the beginning of a voyage that I am still on today.
I often wonder why I didn’t start this long ago. Once you are busy with
your hands in the soil, all the worries and anxieties that were pressing down on
you seem to feel so much lighter. Money is not a factor that should stop
anybody, as it is not expensive at all, and once you have a particular herb,
there are several ways to keep having that herb in your garden for many years to
come. This is one of things I’d like to teach you today: The propagation of
herbs in the garden.

Herbs
as a hobby has several facets to it:
1.
Growing,
maintaining and propagating your herbs.
2.
Researching
and growing your knowledge about herbs and it’s uses, by reading books and
surfing the Internet.
3.
Using
your herbs in your daily meals.
4.
Utilizing
your herbs in cosmetics creams and soaps.
5.
Using
your herbs as preventative medicine and to self-treat minor daily complaints.
As
you might imagine the above will keep you busy for many years to come. You
won’t have time or want to have time for any other hobby.
