Spring Break 2000
Panama City, Panama

Hello everyone!  Here are just a few pictures of my wonderful trip to Panama.  We all had an awesome time, and we can't wait to get a chance to go back!

Left:  Here we  have Jana after a night full of fun.  She opted for the chicken soup!

Right:  Here  is Lindsay after a hard day at the beach.  We were all a little drained.  This is where she decided to take her nap.

Left:  A few of us our first night in town.

Right: While in Panama, I discovered that they had traffic signs that looked a bit different than some of the ones here in the states.  I'm not sure if these mean "kids at play"; "men at play"; "runners", or what.

Left:  More wonderful signs!  The one to the far left represents the type of driving usually practiced in the fair country of Panama!  The next one, I assume, means pedestrians.  (My friend Erin B. thought that it could mean: "you are now entering the 'ghetto'") Look at the buttocks.

Right:  Here is  Amber sporting a grin a mile long.  She is in the jungle  here.

Left:  Here we are on the chivita!  This was probably one of the most fun activities on the trip!

Right:  At one of the stops on the chivita route.

Left:  Here is the Arkansas gang at the beach!

Right:  The beach.

Left:  This is an old, nasty guy who was at the Pit Grill.  He wanted me to get a picture of all of his tattoos.  This is one of my favorite pictures.

Right:  Here I am with Francisco.  He tried to teach a little Salsa.  It was fun.

Left:  At a market in El Valle.

Right:  At the same market.  Here are some drunk guys that were able ot hold it together enough for us to snap their picture.

Left:  View of Panama from Maria's
grandparents' house.

Right:  Jana, Lindsay, and Maria one night before we went out.

Left:  Maria and Marianna at a diner one early morning.

Right:  Maria's parents.

Left:  Here I am mingling with the folk of El Valle!

Right: Two pics of an old man who fancies the idea of laying on a bed of nails.

Left:  A picture of Old Panama.  They burned their city so the Pirates could not get their gold.  Then, they rebuilt the city.  I've got pictures of that but they are not uploaded yet.

Right:  Here we are right after we got off the plane.  It was so humid!

Left:  A nice picture of Panama City.

Right:  Here we are on the world's largest man-made lake.  It was built for the canal.  If you look closely you can see a trail in the center of the pic.  That is part of the trail that the pirates took to get to the Old Panama City.  (that of course was before the man-made lake!)

Left:  Here we are in Hope around 3:30 am.  This is 4 hours before we are to hit the road for Dallas to catch our flight to Atlanta!  We were in the Pit Grill.  (a.k.a. a generic Waffle House)

Right:  Here we have Gary, Me, and Jana.  Gary is from Colon, Panama.  Hi Gary!!

Left:  Here we are crocodile "hunting".  We spotted about three crocs.

Right:  This is Jana.  Enough said.

Left: This is Jana one night.  Let us just say she was a little hungry!  Mmmmmm, I bet those doughnuts taste good, Jana!

Right:  A picture of Taboga.  This is an island that we went to one day.  Lumy's grandmother had a house there.

Left:  Lumy's grandmother's house in Taboga.

Right:  Fishing boats off the coast of Taboga.

Left:  Here we are at the beach house in Taboga.  These are some of Maria's friends who went with us. ( From left to right: Maria Alejandra, Maria, Amber, Marisa-Maria's sister, Karina, and Mariana. )

Right:  Here are dancers wearing the traditional formal dress and dancing a traditional dance.

El Valle.  It was so pretty here!
