All You Wanted
JC loved Lance. There wasn't much more to it than that. Except, of course, the fact that Lance didn't love him back. Or that he wasn't gay or bi or anything that would let him love JC the way JC loved him.

It hurt, but ya know, people deal. It's just one of those things. Everyone longs for someone at some point even if you don't think you could ever have them.

It's just the way it was.

Justin was having a party that night with Britney out at their little house in the 'burbs of Orlando. They were all going, as if they had any other choice.

JC had told Lance he would pick him up since he lived close by and that JC didn't want to drive the hour or longer by himself. Then there's the fact that he WANTED to be in the car with Lance for that hour. Proximity is usually a good thing when you like someone the way JC liked Lance.

But that wasn't until later. JC was bored and figured, 'hell, I'm on break. Might as well enjoy myself.' So he hopped in the car and drove to the mall. Despite all the crap they say, it's not impossible to downplay who they are. All it takes is a baseball hat and some normal clothes. It's even better when it's midday on a weekday when the mall is practically abandoned.

JC wandered the aisles of the music store looking for something to give him a little inspiration or at least please his ears for a few hours. Finally, he stopped thinking, stood still for a minute and listened:

"I'm sinking slowly, so hurry hold me, your hand is all I have to keep me hanging on, please can you tell me, so I can finally see where you go when you're gone," the angst-filled voice cried from the speakers.

JC looked hurriedly around the store and found someone kneeling on the floor in the back. "Hey buddy, who is this?" he asked pointing up in the air.

"Michelle Branch, her CD is up front on the wall," the man said barely looking up at the man above him, "College dropout," he mumbled as JC hurried away.

He grabbed the CD from where it was and paid for it. He left the store and realized that he didn't need to go anywhere else. JC got in his car and ripped the clear plastic packaging from the case and lifted the lid quickly enjoying the *click* sound it made when it opened. He slid it in the slot of his dashboard and reversed quickly. He skipped through the first songs looking for the one he had just heard. There it was.

It was everything JC had always wanted to tell Lance. His eyes filled with tears as he listened to the love and the loss. To the longing and being pushed aside. He finally pulled over unable to see the road at this point and turned it up a little louder. He rested his head on the steering wheel and cried for a bit. The song ended and he lifted his head in order to put it on repeat. He wiped his eyes on the arm of his sweatshirt. He looked back at the road and entered on slowly.

And JC drove and drove until he realized that it was getting dark out and that he had been listening to the same song on repeat for the last four hours.

"I have to tell him," JC mumbled under his breath as he pulled into his driveway after finally making it home. He popped the CD out of its little place in his dashboard and brought it inside with him.

He went into the bathroom to get ready and put the CD into the player he kept in there at all times 'just in case.' He listened to the song as he showered and as he did his hair. He brought it to his room and listened as he dressed. It was his mantra. Maybe with this song he could tell Lance how he felt.

Or maybe not. But we'll have to wait and see.

JC looked at the clock on his dresser and sighed. Ten to eight, he needed to leave to get Lance. As he turned around to grab his wallet off the table his eyes caught the image inside the frame that Johnny had given them all for Christmas last year.

It was from the Celebrity release party. The five of them were nestled into a booth where the party was being held. The frame was super cheesy in true Johnny style. He had each of them made personally: a silver frame with the word 'celebrities' scrawled across the bottom in diamonds. He had never really looked that closely at the picture since they received it. He saw himself in pictures everyday and that was enough for anyone. But he picked it up and looked closely at it.

Look there was Justin, Joey and Chris. Then there was Lance and JC. JC hadn't realized it at the time but they were practically separated from the other three. JC had his arm slung over Lance's shoulder. Lance was leaning into him, practically leaning his head against JC's. He wasn't smiling but he had the most content look on his face. They looked like a couple. JC and HIS Lance looked like a couple.

JC set the frame down and grabbed the CD before heading on his way. As soon as he entered his car the CD was in the player and on number 3 continuously.

He got to Lance's house in no time at all and waited in the driveway for Lance to come rushing out. "Time to be on your best behavior, play good," he mumbled to himself as the door opened and Lance appeared.

"Good god," JC moaned as he saw what Lance was wearing. He slid down in his seat hoping to conceal anything that decided to pop up. Lance looked absolutely gorgeous. He always did but this was beautiful. Heart stopping beautiful. It was all JC could think of as Lance got closer to the car.

He was wearing a loose pair of faded jeans that he liked so much and a long-sleeved collared button down shirt in a green that from outside the car, JC could already tell matched the exact shade of his eyes.

"Josh, you lifesaver, coming and picking me up like this," Lance laughed as he hopped in. JC laughed lightly hoping to conceal the lump that had decided to form in his throat.

"Well, ya know, I'm the best," he said pulling out of the driveway slowly. He could feel Lance's eyes on him. He knew that those green orbs were digging into the side of his head.

"Something wrong?" he asked quietly angling himself up a little further up in the seat trying to see JC's face.

"Nope, not a thing," he lied biting down on his lip slightly, thanking the lord his hair slid into his face as he turned the corner faster than he had meant to. But of course, forces of nature not always working in our favor Lance also slid from his spot and into JC.

Lance giggled slightly trying to regain his composure to move back to his spot. It almost seemed to JC that he didn't want to. But he had to. JC raised his hand slightly from the wheel to lend to his friend, the man of his dreams, and Lance took it and plopped back down in his spot but he didn't let go right away.

JC wanted to cry as he felt the warm hand encircle his. 'We're just friends, that's it,' he thought silently, willing the wetness in his eyes to go away. And Lance dropped his hand.

"You know, it's really weird," Lance started. JC swallowed hard hoping, no PRAYING, that Lance didn't sense something.

"What's weird?" he asked in what came out as almost a whisper. 'If you want to, I can save you..' the same song played on in the background.

"When I was getting ready tonight, I kept getting like this nervous little twisting in the pit of my stomach. It was almost as if," Lance paused not knowing if he wanted to reveal this or not.

"As if what?" JC asked still not looking away from the road. He knew he wouldn't be able to take it.

"As if I were," he stopped, but forced the next words out, "as if I were getting ready to go on a date with you."

JC felt his chin quiver slightly and despite his hair shielding his face, he just KNEW that Lance saw it. Lance saw everything. He noticed every detail and he knew when something wasn't right. And he knew something wasn't right.

'Do something, Josh!! He, Lance Bass, the most incredible person you've ever met in your entire life, just told you that he felt nervous about the idea of getting ready to go out ON A DATE with you. Maybe he feels something. Maybe he actually loves me. TAKE A CHANCE,' the voices screamed back and forth in his head.

Then he felt the hand at his knee and he knew he had to do something. 'THINK!' the voices yelled.

"Josh?" he questioned, the fear heavy in his deep voice. The time went on in silence and JC still drove. The voices in his head battled. The music stopped. 'The music. The SONG,' he thought as it started to play yet again as it had been doing for the last hour as they drove. "I guess I'm way off base here, I'm sorry," Lance choked as he removed his hand and moved to the other side of the car.

JC breathed a deep breath in and out. 'Just sing,' he thought as the first chords started. "I wanted to be like you, I wanted everything. So I tried to be like you and I got swept away," his voice whispered unsure, "I didn't know that it was so cold and you needed someone to show you the way. So I took your hand and we figured out that when the tide comes I'd take you away," he sang his voice gaining momentum and the emotion doubling by the minute as he tried to drive as he sang. "If you want to I can save you. I can take you away from here. So lonely inside, so busy out there and all you wanted was somebody who cares," he paused slightly glancing over at the man whose eyes were glued to his every movement. "I'm sinking slowly, so hurry hold me. Your hand is all I have to keep me hanging on. Please can you tell me, so I can finally see where you go when you're gone," JC blared as he pulled off to the side of the road quickly. He looked over into Lance's tear-filled eyes and took his hand just as he had moments before. "If you want to I can save you. I can take you away from here. So lonely inside, so busy out there and all you wanted was somebody who cares. All you wanted was somebody who cares. If you need me you know I'll be there," he choked never moving his eyes off the green ones that were looking back at him. "If you want to I can save you. I can take you away from here. So lonely inside, so busy out there and all you wanted was somebody who cares. If you want to I can save you. I can take you away from here. So lonely inside, so busy out there and all you wanted was somebody who cares. Please can you tell me, so I can finally see where you go when you're gone," JC said only now realizing that he was shaking and tears were flooding his face.

Lance breathed heavily as he crawled up on his knees and took JC's face in his hands. He looked it over for a minute not knowing what to think. Who could think after that?

"Josh," he mumbled leaning in and then backing up slightly. JC looked at him with fear overshadowing the gorgeous blue.

"Lance?" he questioned not wanting to be the one to kiss him. He sang, and boy had he sung, it was Lance's turn to make a move. If this was gonna happen it was gonna happen because Lance wanted it too.

And Lance did want it. He wanted every bit of it as he leaned down and captured the shivering pink lips in his kiss. He wanted it all as he ran his hands down JC's back and back up into his hair as they captured every strand. JC's arms slipped around Lance's waist and pulled him up on top of him. The brunette's cold hands ran over the heated skin under Lance's shirt and sent shivers through his whole body. Lance stopped and rested down leaning his head against JC's.

"Was it all you wanted?" he whispered lightly his warm breath attacking every nerve of JC's body.

"Everything and more."
