My "Life"
This page is an atempt to keep those of you who don't see me that often up to date on what's going on in my life.  To start with it's just going to be a brief synopsis of what's gone on in my life lately and what fills my days right now, but as events occur (if there are actual events) i'll post them in here to satisfy your craving for all things Darek.
Recent Major Events:
Purchased New Car - May 2005
Moved to Williston - April 2005

Broke up with Jen - February 2005
Car Died - January 2005
Hired at IBM - September 2004
Moved back to Vermont - August 2004
Graduated from UNH - June 2003
Where I'm At:
I'm not going  to sugar coat it, I live with my father.  That's right, i'm a 24 year old college gradutate with a full time job and well developed social skills, the only blemish on my otherwise pristine self-image is that after being out of "the house" for nearly six years I find myself once again cohabitating with a parental.  I'm not bitter, I won't say there aren't times when it's frustrating to the point of blind rage, but overall it's not too bad and, god willing, only temporary.  We live in Williston in a nice place in which I occupy the downstairs level.  Our home doubles as the headquarters for Fancy That Catering, my dad's mobile catering business.  We're very near all the necesities and my work.  I like Vermont, I've realized that in the time I've been away and the plan is to stick around the area for a while, but then again, plans have a tendancy to change.
What I Do:
In a stroke of pure luck, just as I moved back up to Vermont, IBM began a hiring campain for the Essex plant.  I applied online, got called back two days later, came in for an interview and, within two weeks of really looking, I had a job.  "Wow Darek, that's great, you're so lucky."  Well, yes and no.  The job does have it's catches, the most notable of which being that it's 12 hour shifts and those shifts run from 7pm-7am.  Working all night is something I couldn't possibly describe.  College messed with my sleep pattern enough that it hasn't been that major a change but it's not exactly fun.  The upside  is that the money is decnet and the shedule, though odd, has its advantages.  I work every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night and every other Saturday.  So to simplify, I work 3 days in a row, then have 4 days off, then I work 4 days in a row and get 3 days off.

I like the job for the most part.  Most of the people are decent enoughl and since I'm among the youngest people who work here, everyone tends to look out for me and make sure I don't do anything stupid, and when I say do anything stupid I mean anything that might jeopordize any of the millions of dollars worth of computer processors I work with every day.

Explaining exactly what I do is sort of difficult without acutally seeing the process but I'll try to sum it up.  I take boxes full of circular disks that have computer chips on them and I put these boxes in one of the 15 machines I opperate.  The machine takes the disks, does it's thing (which in my case is putting a layer of chemicals down) and then when their done I take them out and send them on their way to the next step in the process.  If that sound really easy, that's becuase it is.  Granted there are some other steps and processes that I'm responsible for, but in a nutshell that's it.  On days when there's lots of work to do it's not that bad but there are days when it's a struggle to keep the tools loaded and that's when the hours really drag.  Additionally, since we're working with high end electronic components, everyone who works on the production line is required to wear a full body clean room suit, hood, mask, gloves and boots  I'd post pictures but I'm not allowed, you're going to have to trust that while i'm working the only part of me that's visable are my eyes, it's interesting to say the least and makes meeting and recognizing new people a bit challenging.

I've been at this for a few months now, banking as much of my money as possible and pretending I have no other goals in life so that I don't go crazy knowing I'm working at a job that has nothing to do with anything I WANT to do.  As it is, the job has a maximum term of three years and I'd rather not be here that whole time, so once my finances are a bit more secure the job hunt will begin again.
What I'd Rather Be Doing:
Since I sleep all day on the days I'm working, I'd like to be able to say that my days off are always filled with exciting and productive activities, well, I also wish I had x-ray vision and niether of those things are really working out so far.

My days as of late are spent running the errands most normal people get done on a daily basis.  I've found that always sleeping durring business hours makes simple tasks like going to the bank or the post office much more of an ordeal.  Mondy and Tuesday every week are pretty much devoted to running around town, shoping for the week and making sure nobody does anything fun on the days I'm working.  I play a lot of pool on Suday and Tuesday nights.  There are also frequent trips to Denny's with friends, which speaks volumes about the lengths I will go to avoid cooking.  I recently purchased a ping pong table so I anticipate a good deal of time will be spent competing in epic maches with Kevin and there is a dart board in the plans as well.  There's a decent park with tennis and basketball courts down the road and I try to get out there when I can in order to stave off the feelings of complete laziness.

Other than that I drive my car a lot and try to find rock concerts to attend.
