What a poignant story about the power of love. A love so great and predestined that nothing could ever stop it. Nicholas Sparks weaves a tale that surprises, and entraps you within the pages of his book, refusing to let you go until you have read every word. At one point I was prepared to dislike the heroine, Allie, because for a very brief period I thought she was going to disappoint me as well as Noah, the other main character. But theirs was a love so powerful it just had to be. Allie gave up much but in doing so she found her destiny. Being the first to submit a review, I won't give away the story, but Allie and Noah remained together and stayed just as much in love as they were in the beginning. Maybe more so. They shared a tender and generous, giving love that everyone should experience once in their life. The power of that love accomplished some miracles in their twilight years.

The Notebook is a small but powerful book written by Nicholas Sparks who also wrote Message in a Bottle, which was made into the movie that starred Kevin Costner. It's a quick read and well worth your time.

Not what I was expecting exactly for the ending. Different, but I like it. Made me smile. :) A really nice story about true love, and how it is stronger than anything if you want it to be. I always enjoy a good love story, especially one that seems so true. A lot of description, for a short time you feel you are a part of their lives. Well written I found for such a short story. Good pick Cheri!

Would you recommend this book?

Yes I would.

If you want to believe that you can find a "real" love you should read this book, it will give you faith. It gives you a look at what life could have been like for your grandparents. This book will help you decide if you are a half full or half empty glass person :-)

My favorite part of the book:

I ne'er was struck before that hour
With love so sudden and so sweet,
Her face it bloomed like a sweet flower
And stole my heart away complete.

Be composed--be at ease with me...
Not till the sun excludes you do I exclude you,
Not till the waters refuse to glisten for you
and the leaves to rustle for you, do my
words refuse to glisten and rustle for you.

And I read, to let them know who I am.

I wander all night in my vision,...
Bending with open eyes over the shut eyes
of sleepers,
Wandering and confused, lost to myself, ill-assorted, contradictory, Pausing, gazing, bending, and stopping.

Would you recommend this book?

Definitely, I think it's a must read.
