He was a freeholder in the Colony of Rensselaerwyck in 1720. He lived in the town of Schotack (Schodack).

Abraham and his wife Geertje became members of the Reformed Church at Claverack on 12 Oct 1788. He was listed as a Deacon on 25 Jun 1791 and 8 Aug 1792.
