Generation One

1. John 'Francis' Lucas1 JACOBY was born in 1737 Germany.1,2 He married Joanna 'Frederica' (Frederina) LOTSPEICH, daughter of Conrad LOTSPEICH and Catherine Elizabetha Wilhelmina (--?--), in 1764.1 He wrote a will on 7 May 1788 in Bourbon County, Kentucky.3 He wrote a will on 7 May 1788. The will of Francis Lucas JACOBY mentions his wife, Fredrica, and his children, Katrina, Eliz. Butler, Susannah, Ralph, Gladinglug?, Frank, Henry, Fred, Daniel, Betsy, Jacob, John, and Adam (when of age).

A settlement recorded in Bourbon Co Deed Book C, page 317, by "We Christopher LOTSPEICH of Virginia, formerly of Frankinthal in Germany and Frederica JACOBY, widow of John Francis Lucas JACOBY, late of Bourbon Co, and formerly called Joanna Frederica LOTSPEICH of Frankinthal.."3 He wrote a will on 7 May 1788. A settlement was recorded in Bourbon Co Deed Book C, page 317, by "We Christopher LOTSPEICH of Virginia, formerly of Frankinthal in Germany and Frederica JACOBY, widow of John Francis Lucas JACOBY, late of Bourbon Co, and formerly called Joanna Frederica LOTSPEICH of Frankinthal.."4 He died before 5 Jul 1788. His will was recorded on 5 Jul 1788.5

In 1764 he sailed for America, by way of England. In England he married fellow passenger Frederina LOTSPIRG.2 They settled in Virginia, where they lived until 1785, when they moved to western Virginia, to what is now Kentucky.2 The 1787 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded J. F. Lukes JACOBY. He was recorded with one white male over 21, one white male over 16 but under 21, seven horses, and 10 cattle.6 The 1789 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Francis Lewis JACOBY, with 100 acres.7 In Apr 1799, "Jno. JACOBY, infant orphan of Francis JACOBY, deceased, made choice of Benj. HALLOCK for guardian. Frederica JACOBY, Secty."8 In Mar 1799, "Adam JACOBY, infant orphan of Francis L. JACOBY, chose Frederica JACOBY guardian. Ralph JACOBY, surety."8

Joanna 'Frederica' (Frederina) LOTSPEICH. Of Frankenthal, Germany. The 1792 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBA with two whites and nine horses.9 The 10 Sep 1793 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBUS with two white males over 21, one white male over 16 but under 21, nine horses, and 24 cattle.10 The 30 Apr 1795 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBUS. She had 300 acres of 1st rate land on Huston Waters. She also had 100 acres of 1st rate land on Cooper Run, 300 acres of 2nd rate land on the North Fork Licking in Mason County, 250 acres of 2nd rate land on Simpsons Creek in Nelson County, and 750 acres of 2nd rate land on Eagle Creek in Harrison County. She was recorded with one voter, one white male over 21, three horses.11 The 2 Jun 1796 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBY. She had 170 acres of 2nd rate land on Huston Waters. She also had 300 acres of 3rd rate land on the North Fork Licking in Mason County, 250 acres of 3rd rate land on Simprons Creek in Nelson COunty, and 750 acres of 3rd rate land on Eagle Creek in Harrison County. She was recorded with two white males over over 16 but under 21, six horses, and 20 cattle.12 The 8 Sep 1797 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frderica (sic) JACOBUS. She had 170 acres of 2nd rate land on Huston Waters. She also 300 acres of 3rd rate land on the North Fork Licking in Mason County, 250 acres of 3rd rate land on Simprons Creek in Nelson COunty, and 750 acres of 3rd rate land on Eagle Creek in Harrison County. She was recorded with one white males over 16 but under 21 and five horses.13 The 11 Jun 1800 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBUS. She had 100 acres of 1st rate land on W. Huston. She also 300 acres of 2nd rate land on the North Fork Licking in Mason County, 250 acres of 2nd rate land on Simprons Creek in Nelson COunty, and 750 acres of 2nd rate land on Eagle Creek in Harrison County. She was recorded with four horses.14 The 17 Jun 1801 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBA. She had 175 acres of 1st rate land on the Houston. She was recorded with four horses.15 The 27 Jun 1802 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBA. She had 175 acres of 1st rate land on the Houston. She was recorded with two white males over 21, one black male over 16, six blacks total, and five horses.16 The 31 May 1803 Tax List for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBY. She had 175 acres of 1st rate land on the Houston, with one white males over 16 but under 21, and four horses.17 The 26 Jul 1805 tax list for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBY, having 100 acres of 1st rate land on the Houston, with four horses.18 The 11 Jun 1806 tax list for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Frederica JACOBY, having 175 acres of 1st rate land on the Houston, with two horses.19

12. Jacob2 JACOBY (John 'Francis' Lucas1) was born on 24 Sep 1779.1 He married Littia Crawford ESTES.1 He married Sarah HARRIS.21,1 He married Mary STARK, daughter of James STARK and Jane FRISTOE, on 27 Apr 1808.1 He died on 28 Jan 1843 at age 63.2

The 17 Jun 1801 tax list for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Jacob JACOBA, with one white male over 21.15 The 31 May 1803 tax list for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Jacob JACOBY, with one white male over 21 and two horses.17 The 11 jun 1806 tax list for Bourbon County, Kentucky, recorded Jacob JACOBY, with one white male over 21 and two horses.19

There were no known children of Jacob2 JACOBY and Littia Crawford ESTES.

There were no known children of Jacob2 JACOBY and Sarah HARRIS.

Mary STARK died on 24 Mar 1829.2

Generation Three

15. John Francis3 JACOBY (Jacob2, John 'Francis' Lucas1) was born in 1809.1 He married Matilda ROBINSON. He died on 27 Mar 1857.

Matilda ROBINSON died on 19 Aug 1833.

The three known children of John Francis3 JACOBY and Matilda ROBINSON were as follows:

16. James S.3 JACOBY (Jacob2, John 'Francis' Lucas1) was born on 25 Aug 1815 Hutchinson Precinct, Bourbon County, Kentucky.2 He married Mary HEADINGTON on 7 Jan 1836.2 James S. JACOBY and Mary HEADINGTON had no children.2 He married Agnes M. KENNEY on 11 Oct 1849.2

He owned 358 acres of land, five and one-half miles from Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky. He served as Justice of the Peace and a School Trustee. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, where he was a Steward.2

There were no known children of James S.3 JACOBY and Mary HEADINGTON.
