As most of you are aware Cecil is away at work in Fort McMurray, Alberta and has been for quite sometime now. Anyway, he came home for a 3 week vacation beginning on June 18. We had such a lovely time together and those 3 weeks just flew by. We had alot of fun and I have so many great photos and memories of our time together to hold me over til he gets home later this year. I have these photos to share with you. Our wedding anniversary was July 2, married 6 glorious years now but we've actually been together 11 years altogether. Those were the best 11 years of my life and I'm pretty sure the best is yet to come. Cecil took the kids and I to Cheticamp on our anniversary. If we couldn't spend it alone with one another then we did the next best thing, spent it with our children. It was a special time for me and looking back I cherish it and wouldn't have wanted it any other way. A person can really appreciate the time spent with the one you love when you've been apart from them for such a long time. You know the old saying, "Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder"...well I can certainly attest to that.
Cheticamp as you well know is a little Acadian village on the west coast of Cape Breton. We visited galleries, museums, gift shops, etc.  http://cheticampns.com
My husband bought me this nice reproduction of a painting by Maud Lewis who was a Nova Scotia folk artist. http://www.agns.gov.ns.ca/maudlewishouse/
Cheticamp is famous for rughooking and our daughter really enjoyed watching and participating in the demonstrations. http:/floras.com/rugs.html
Over the Margaree River, we entered one of Nova Scotia's several Acadian regions, and its 3 main villages- Grand Etang, Cap LeMoine, and Cheticamp- we've just entered french speaking country. Everywhere you can see the Acadian red, white, and blue French tricolor with a gold star laid over top. Passing through Cap LeMoine was Joe's Scarecrow Village, a roadside oddity assembled by, no surprise, a guy named Joe. Overlooking the broad St. Lawerence Bay and the widely spaced houses of Cap LeMoine, Joe has decorated his yard with over 100 scarecrows, the heads of many masked in the plastic faces of world leaders past and present: Carter, Reagan, Chretien, etc. It is really something to see in person. Here are just a few pics of Joe's Scarecrow Village that were taken by me and my family during our visit there.
Aye Cecil... watch out fer dem hunters dere, bey.
