(Isn't that the cleverest of titles?)

This is where I showcase my
interests for my online friends! Currently, only my Genealogy and Dark Shadows pages are up and running, but I have a host of Star Trek stuff that
was posted on my AOL pages. (That was
before AOL had "issues" with member webpages and made them
inacessible.) So be on the lookout for my genealogy
pages and Dark Shadows, Especially if you're a fan of
Angelique--and who isn't??? But just in case you start reading about
Bajorans or Vulcans, Ive probably started my
Star Trek section, although that WOULD explain some of my
ancestral brick walls! Speaking of brick walls, we haven't been
able to find any family for our 5th great-grandfather, Elijah
Caswell. My current guess is that he may be
directly related
to Barnabas Caswell of Taunton from the
late 1700s. Lets seeand my great great
grandmother's name was Julia And she had a sister named
Angeline...hmm Maybe these puzzle pieces will fit
together after all!!! lol! Now...PLEASE NOTE!!!! This is a permanent HARD HAT area!!!! !!!!!CONSTRUCTION ZONE!!!!! There are so many things I want to do
here, that sometimes I get sidetracked, so you may find that some of the links
are like the staircases at Hogwarts. If you run into problems (or Fluffy)
please let me know. So meanwhile, welcome to my MAZE!!! Genealogically speaking, I come from LOTS
of different places, In North America: at least two
separate Native American tribes, Virginia Cherokees and one from
Massachusetts/Rhode Island (but we don't know which one) Ireland (in 1899), Germany (in
16whatever), Scotland, England, France, and probably a
host of Other Places, not to mention Risa, the Badlands, and the Delta
Quadrant.
In my research, I've found a lot of
ancestors, (no Collinses yet...) but also a lot of cousins who are around
today, AND a lot of GREAT online fellow amateur
genealogists who have done MUCH to further my research
not to mention, some who are BOTH! Thank you to them, and thank you to my
ancestors, too, although, could you guys be a little less
elusive????? For professional purposes, not to mention
honoring the MOM Side of my family, I've decided to adopt the name of my
half-Cherokee ancestor, Mag the Grey Horse (also known as Charlie Greyhorse, and
George Charles Harmon) as well as my dad's family name, so
that's where my "Grey Horse" comes from. I guess that's really only making it
"official" Since I was given that name a couple of
years ago by several researching cousins. If you want to bypass my Dark Shadows/Star Trek/B5 comments, click the ferret face to
go to my genealogy page.
If you've been there before and
forgot how, and/or want to go directly to the Forest
page, (not to mention bypassing my incredible
cleverness) click on the little tree.
Now for Dark Shadows. OK.
WAIT. Dark Shadows? You mean THE Dark Shadows? The gothic, horror, supernatural-type
soap opera about your basic average eccentric millionaire family, their
rambling 40+ room mansion complete with secret passageways, closed-off wings,
locked doors, and mysteriously always-lit candles? Their assorted twisted family members who were either alive, dead, or somewhere
in between? The show that was on
from 1966 until it met its untimely death in the spring of 1971? THAT Dark Shadows? Yes.
The Very Same. Well, friends, in case youve been in
parallel time for the last 30+ years, the good news is that it REFUSED to die in
1971 and lived on for several incarnations in syndication, and, though
currently not running on television, STILL lives on in reunions, memorabilia,
and fan fiction, video tapes, and DVDs. I was glued to the TV set when
it was first on. Back in the Dark Ages. When they never reran soaps. It's only been this last time that Dark Shadows has been run that I've had a VCR,
so finally, after um...several years...I've gotten to see some of the old
episodes again. But THEN the Sci-Fi channel started being
cute with their lineup. How can you show a SOAP... And then suddenly start having marathons
of other shows??? Then two (only TWO) episodes and then
MORE marathons!!!!! I mean What WERE They Thinking??? And THEN to just take the show OFF the
AIR Without even finishing the show's run?
Well, that sent me running to the Great
Oracle at Google To see if there was any info out there,
you know, support groups and stuff? Wow! Did I find some sites!!!
Mailing lists and message boards... And FAN FICTION!!! Please!
Was I out of the loop or WHAT??? Or maybe I fell into an enchanted sleep???
I had NO IDEA!!! So I started reading! And found
some GREAT stories. And a whole RAFT of stories by Charles Delaware
Troll!!! That guy is awesome! And Lara Parker? An entire NOVEL about Angeliques past! WOO
HOO!!! Theres LOTS of fan fiction out there. Unfortunately, lots of it was published
online unfinished! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!! OK, so while I was waiting for
everybody to finish their stories, I had to do SOMETHING other than
adding Van Winkle to my list of family names. So I created...ta dah!!! My Very Own Dark Shadows
website!!! And guess what??? That led to... My Very Own Fan Fiction, that is now
posted for you to enjoy!! The entire saga is called, Bright
Shadows And, ok, so it's complete with my very
own unfinished fan fiction... But the first two stories in the series are done!!! (Yaaay, me!!!) Just Until Tomorrow Take us two years past the end of the
series and picks up with Angelique having returned to Collinsport two months
earlier seeking either closure or fulfillment in her relationship with a
certain prominent citizen (about this tallcarries a wolfshead cane) She is now anticipating his arrival after a
long business trip. Its sequel was completed in May,
2005. A Patient Promise Immediately follows the timeline and
story established in Just Until Tomorrow. The third in the series, Hearts Restored,
is currently under construction. A Patient Promise took me
over a year to complete, and I wasn't working then, soumdont hold your breath.
If it's any consolation, I'm writing as fast as I can!
OK, now Star
Trek. I've watched ALL the series. Or is that serieses? Or serii? All of them until "Enterprise"
that is. I'm still feeling a little betrayed
because The Powers That Be abandoned the HUGE
Star Trek universe that they had taken years to build, and backtracked a couple hundred years. However, I have seen parts of
several episodes of Enterprise, and was pleased that it didn't suck.
But it's still NOT THE SAME. I"ll probably get over it
eventually. Meanwhile, what the HECK is happening on
Bajor in the present/future? (That's as opposed to the past/future of
Enterprise.)
And when, or is, Captain Sisko (whom we fondly
refer to as "The Emissary") going to get his pips back down to DS9
AND his wife and find out if he has a new son or daughter? And WHAT is going on with our favorite
Betazoid mother, Lwaxana Troi? And how did she react to those nasty guys
who wanted to liquidate Betazed? And where was she for The Wedding?
You have to know she'd be there.
Now Babylon 5. I LOVED
Babylon 5. Until Ivanova got promoted and went off
the station. Then I sort of lost interest. But I still loved the idea of the show and Ivanova and Sheridan and Delenn... and Zathras ...and Delenn. Did I mention Delenn? But Susan was the best. And she got
the best lines. But the very best was her excellent
delivery.
Remember, "I'll be in the car"? How about the ever popular,
"GARIBALDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"? And that brings me to my online
"career" in first, the Rangers, THEN Star Fleet... It all started in a little 5000 watt
radio station in Fresno, CA... No...wait. That's Ted Baxter.
Ok, I've got it now. I got hooked up to the internet
about five years ago, and began playing online Star Trek and
Babylon 5 games because someone (Thanks, Tyler!) sent me an instant message, "Hi! I just read your profile
and saw you like Babylon 5. We're about to role-play a B5 online
academy! Why don't you come and sim with us!"
I said, "I have no idea what you're
talking about, but sure, why not?" After a few more confusing moments, --Please IM the Captain for your post...???-- (OK, so I was clueless...) They installed me in a position where
I could do the least harm. Actually, they asked me what job I
wanted, and since I still had no clue
how these games were run, I said, "Give me something
easy..." ... so they let me drive the ship. Now if I was in charge of a
starship, I don't think my first reaction to a
new cadet would be to hand over the keys, but either they were REALLY desperate for
players--- or they had sensed my innate ability for
such a position. Probably the latter, don't you think?
Anyway, that's how my alter ego, Jaren
T'shara, became the hottest pilot this
side of Mos Eisley. Or at least DS9. You can read all about Jaren in the The Chronicles Of the Amazing Jaren
T'shara --comingumeventually to a website
near you.
Also, maybe, or at least in a parallel universe,
Willie Brown, Space...um...Entreprenuer? Not to mention her friend and comrade,
Goo Stewart, Space Ferret. Oh yeah, and his pet
human Captain Kayla Stewart, who both happen to be Very Close to one of my best online cyberspace buds,
Becky. But currently, my Dark Shadows fan fiction is at the forefront of
my list of Things To Do. I'm working on compiling a list of links but for now, here's a great site...
Now, in case you hadn't heard, some Dark Shadows news!
Lara Parker, who played Collinsport's own Angelique Bouchard Collins--everybody's favorite witch--has
written her second
It's now been awhile since I first made my webpage and I've been to THREE (count 'em! THREe!) Fests! Well, ok. Two Fests. The last one was only supposed to be Fest-ISH.
