| Indigo Chick's Interview With Judy Bagshaw This interview was conducted Sunday, March 14, 2004 in the Yahoo! Judy Bagshaw Fan Club chat room. I hope to do a follow up interview soon! The bold text is Indigo Chick, and Judy's answers are below. First off, who is your most favouritest person in the whole entire universe? Hmm, besides you? lol... I guess the only answer I can truly give is....it's the person I'm with at the time. It's hard to pick favourites when I know so many wonderful, talented people. (BTW - Indigo Chick was the correct answer.) All right, how about something a little different. Would you care to put to rest the rumours about you and Irish born hunk, Colin Farrell? I heard there were photos of you two exiting a hotel room hand in hand a few months back. If only!!! But isn't he seen exiting hotels with mysterious women all the time? I'm afraid I like to be exclusive when I'm with a fella...so tough luck, Colin! This is the one question I gave you in advance. If someone was going to play you in a movie, who would it be? And I still don't have a good answer. And I guess playing myself is out of the question (no box office draw), so perhaps Catherine Zeta Jones, if she's willing to eat a LOT of chocolate and ice cream and become the truly voluptuous woman she should be...lol...if not, then Camryn Manheim because I like that she's a feisty, curvy girl. If you had your choice of director for said movie, would you pick: a) Peter Jackson, b) David Cronenberg, c) the late Stanley Kubrick, d) P.T. Anderson, e) Steven Spielberg, f) Tarantino. LOLOL...good question...well, Jackson or Spielberg would catch the heart warming side of my life, and Kubrick and Cronenberg would have caught the stranger moments well, and I love Tarantino, but I don't think there are really that many gory slaughter scenes from my life, but I'd love if he'd score the film. I'm afraid I don't know P.T. (shame on me). Perhaps we can go for whoever directed My Big Fat Greek Wedding!! Okay, and what would the theme song be? These are hard questions! Remind me to chastise you later off list!! The theme song...hmmm...perhaps Big Girls Don't Cry...or maybe....I Did It My Way! Oh, and somewhere in there I have to sing I Only Have Eyes For You, and Summertime...I want that in the contract...lol. What is your favourite book? (by another author, and by yourself). Ooooh, I have so many favourite books...I guess most recently would be books by Sue Ann Jaffarian, the latest being The Curse of the Holy Pail. She writes BBW mysteries with a really terrific plus-size, mature heroine. Wonderful stuff. Of my own books, my favourite is the one I'm immersed in writing at any given moment. Right now, a psi/romance I'm calling Through All Eternity. I'm about 9 chapters into it. Nine chapters that are fantabulous! Thank you. How about movie/TV show/song/musician? My favourite movie would be a draw between Rebel Without A Cause, To Sir With Love, or The Highlander. I loved them all. T.V. show? Again, I can't choose. I'm fanatical about catching, C.S.I., Gilmore Girls, and any of the Law & Orders. As with books and films, I have a rather eclectic taste in music too. I love blues (B.B. King, Diana Krall), old rock and roll, guitar (Toronto artist, Pavlo), classical...if I could choose favourite songs for me to sing, it would be Summertime or I Only Have Eyes For You. How about least favourite movie/TV show/song/book? Least favourite....hmmm...books....anything by Barbara Carland....my apologies to her many fans. Movies? There aren't too many movies that I can't find some interest in, but I'd have to say horror in general. I can't watch horror. What TV show/movie/book/song is your "guilty pleasure" that you'll be horribly embarrassed if anyone is ever told what it is? LOLOL...no fair!!!...oh, all right...but don't tell anyone...I'm hooked on Y&R. What is the most interesting question a fan has asked you? Wow! I'm really going to have to think on that one. I guess probably about how close my romance stories are to my real life...as in, is the heroine based on me? Do I use people I know as characters? What is the best compliment you have ever received? One plus-sized fan told me that my books made her decide to start living her life differently, and looking at herself with different eyes. That made me feel really good. What's the best advice you've ever received? Probably the best advice I've been given to my writing career was to just go for it and not let anything stand in the way of my dreams and goals. Do you have any deep, dark secrets that are tearing at your insides, begging to be released, or you'll go crazy and murder dozens of people if you don't tell someone soon? LOLOLOL Is that a yes? Care to share? Let me see....um...I don't think I'm that deep an individual. Pretty much with me, what you see is what you get (to coin a cliche). I'm afraid that makes me sound terribly dull. I'll make something up then. lolol...now I'm truly frightened... How do you feel about fan fic? Would you be horrified, flattered, or would you just ignore it? As long as the fans didn't try to sell the work using my characters and stories, I suppose no harm is done. But the idea makes me a bit nervous as a copyright conscious writer. But it might be fun to see the ideas that are generated by my creations. Does that mean I can post my Lady Blue sequel where Dex is abducted by aliens, and Sabrina and Guy must battle the Illuminati? Lord help the aliens! Dex is a tough cookie! He'd probably talk them to distraction. I think Sabrina and Guy are a little...ahem...busy right now, though, on their honeymoon...if you catch my drift. Can you give your fans any hints about the ACTUAL Lady Blue sequel? Title, new characters, plot stuff, anything? No title at the moment, and only a rough outline, but we'll be hopping to Europe for Sabrina's first tour for the first album. There will be a run-in with Guy's ex and Laney Ballou, that despicable tabloid butcher will be causing mayhem. And shhhh, this is a secret, but in my latest book (in the editing revising stage), Big Fat Lies, watch for a brief appearance by Sabrina and Guy onboard the cruise ship...shhhh. My lips are sealed...except about the fact that I helped with that idea, lol. True...and it was brilliant. What really pisses you off? What ticks me off the most are those roving groups of teens that seem to hang out at every mall, plaza, and park and think it's okay to say totally rude and obnoxious things to plus-sized people. It's as if they think that being fat makes you deaf too. And I also really despise anyone....I mean ANYONE....who is deliberately hurtful to a child. And people who club baby seals. Baby anything! If you were doing this interview, what question would you want me to ask you? Perhaps I'd want to know what legacy I hope to leave with my writing. Actually, that one was coming up....what do you want to be remembered for? lol...great minds think alike....the only thing I hope to achieve through my stories is that full figured women would realize their own self worth. I hope they read about my heroines and come away from the experience ready to tackle the world on a new level....with confidence and pride. Have you ever been arrested? Nope but I was with a guy once in university when he was stopped and frisked by the police. Were you lying about that last answer? lolol....would it make you feel better to know it was my fault he got pulled over? True story...he and I were walking down a pretty deserted street late at night on the way back to residence. There was one of those orange traffic cones sitting on the grass in front of a building. I suggested to him it would look great in his dorm room along with the flashing construction lights he'd stolen. So he picked up the cone. We started walking back down the street when a cruiser pulled up and hollered at him to drop the cone and put his hands against the vehicle. He was frisked and they called it in to check on him. I stood by terrified and guilty...lol.... Do you have a mortal enemy? No one has come forward at this point declaring his or herself as such, so I don't think so. I am, however, a Scorpio, and as such I do hold lifelong grudges against people who have done me wrong. I won't name names, but if you're reading this out there, you know who you are!! Have you heard the one about the priest, the minister, and the rabbi? I'm going on 50....I've heard them all!!! I don't know it - can you tell me? ROTFLMAO! What is your favourite quote? This will sound rather egocentric, but I made one up that I try to live by: "Rejection is the fuel that fires my resolve to prove them wrong!" I also like, "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got." Oh, and my absolute favourite life quote is: "God liked his receipe for me so much, he made extra!" If the current economic state of Medemblik (in the Netherlands) had to be described in one word, what word do you think Prime Minister Martin would use? Huh? lol... Or perhaps he'd ask first, "What did Bush say?" Next I was gonna ask you what you thought Prez Bush would answer. Likely he'd say something to the effect of "I can fix that!" You've just been given 1 million dollars, and you find out the world is going to end tomorrow. What do you do? Get everyone I love and admire together in one spot and just celebrate life for however long we have. Is there a writer you would like to work with? It might be fun to work with someone in a completely different genre than mine...like Anne Rice or Patricia Cornwell...so I could stretch my writing muscles in another direction. Five years from now - where do you see yourself? Retired from my day job, living by a body of water somewhere, writing full time with multiple bestsellers under my belt, and a decent income coming in from my writing. Would you feel horribly uncomfortable if I asked for your opinion on major controversial topics? Not if you don't mind me side-stepping the issue if I don't care to express my opinion on certain things. But I'm willing to at least be asked. LOL, I didn't plan to ask you, I just wanted to know if you'd be horrified by the prospect. lol...not much you could do would horrify me, but thanks for the reprieve. Okay, and lastly, do you have any final words for the gentle readers who are now gently reading this interview? First of all, I admire them for actually reading all the way through this interview. Secondly, thank you so much for taking an interest in my writing and in me. My readers are the main reason I continue to love this career of mine so much. I have been really blessed. Keep coming back because I'm just getting started! |
