My maternal great-grandmother, Justine Obrikat Mertinat, was very proud of her brother Franz. As it turns out, Franz was the first member of the family to emigrate to America. Consequently, he was instrumental in helping other relatives to relocate and pursue their dreams in the “land of opportunity.” Franz went on to become a prosperous furrier and later a stockbroker. Those of us who have benefited from his generosity and insight owe a great debt to Franz Obrikat. Below is some  information about Justine and Franz's family:
