Jay: Is that what they said, hes a big hero?
Jude: Yeah.
Jay: No! [waves hand] Hes not a hero, shut up! [audience laughs] Hes a dehydrated guy in a box!
Jude: We felt so bad; people throwing tomatoes. I, I kinda love the guy [an audience member shouts Yeah!] I kind of, I like magic.
Jay: Yeah.
Jude: I like a bit of magic. I dont know whats magic about sitting in a box, but [audience laughs and he smiles and licks his lips]
Jay: Yeah, exactly.
Jude: He did it and hats off to him.
Jay: I mean, for a month youre sitting there in your own urine, whats the trick? [Jude starts laughing along with the audience] I mean, really thats the trick, I didnt quite get it. I mean I guess its cool that you sit in a block of ice for a month
Jude: I gotta be honest, I went there twice: once in the day, once late at night. And both times all I saw was a pile of blankets [illustrates this with hand motions], so I dont even know if he really was in there.
Jay: Were people taunting cause see, we heard herethis is what we heardcause here in America he does the tricks and its a TV special and people go oooh, ahhh, then we heard he went to London.
Jude: Yeah.
Jay: And people go [puts on a horrible British accent and pretends to throw things in the distance] Go back, ya Yankee bastard! [Jude starts laughing hysterically], and theyre peltin him, and why were they so angry?
Jude: [still laughing and smiling and points to Jay] No, the funniest part, you know what they did? The funniest one was someone hired, someone bought a remote control helicopter with a burger on the bottom [acts the whole thing out, and Jay and the audience start laughing] and did itand put it up there and hovered it in front of him [makes a yikes face] Isnt that clever, though?
Jay: [still laughing uncontrollably] Thats good, thats very good!
Jude: I mean that took serious planning.
Jay: Well yeah, thats a lot of work.
Jude: [smiling] Yeah make sure the burgers hot, make sure the batteries are charged.
Jay: The condiments flying alongside there [Jude laughs] Look look, were gonna take a little break, more with Jude Law right after this, well be right back. [audience applauds and SCREAMS as Jude looks out to them and grins a little, then turns back to Jay as they talk to each other and go to commercial break]
--- After commercial break ---
[We come back from commercial break and see Jude bobbing his head and shaking his foot to the music being played by the band, like hes really into itmuch like Dickie with his jazz!]
Jay: Were back, talking with Jude Law, Cold Mountain is the film [Jude looks at audience and smiles] it opens on Christmas Day. Now I wanna ask you something your buddy Ewan McGregor [audience screams at the mention of his name and Jude smiles]. Well hes a motorcycle buddy, we both like bikes, but you guys were roommates?
Jude: Yeah, we uh shared a flat like 10 years ago? 11 years ago?
Jay: Now how didwere you friends before, you sort of
Jude: We met at an audition.
Jay: Oooh, okay.
Jude: Someone was gonna do a movie based on the 1964 tour of it was a kind of combination between the Stones and The Beatles [moves hands in a mixing motion] a kind of make-believe group. And they got a bunch of young actors from around Britain together [starts to chuckle] and they gave us like twenty pounds and sent us to the pub for research [audience chuckles], and thats where I met Ewan. And then, uh we ended up living together, yeah for a couple years.
Jay: Okay, now hes a big motorcycle guy. Do you ride as well, do you have bikes?
Jude: [smiles and starts mumbling through his teeth] No, Im really embarrassed.
Jay: You dont ride?
Jude: Im the only one of all my friends who doesnt ride a big bike. I ride scooters [makes that yikes face again, but someone cheers him on from the audience, then people start laughing and cheering some more]
Jay: Youre more the mod than the rocker.
Jude: [perks up and points to Jay] Exactly, exactly
Jay: You see, Ewan would be more rocker probably.
Jude: Ewan is definitely more rocker.
Jay: Well, hes sort of a bit of a daredevil. |
